Gotham City.
Cold. Dangerous. Mysterious.
The home of criminals. The domain of gangs. The breeding ground of murderers.
The place for vigilantes.
As far as the people of Gotham know, there's exactly two of them, hiding in the shadows of Gotham City.
Batman and Aponi.
The Batman had never been seen by the police. Only by the criminals he stopped.
No one knew if he existed or not since no one trusted the word of a criminal. The GCPD officers never believed in his existence for a second, no matter how many people spread stories throughout the city, vivid with details about supposed sightings of the Caped Crusader.
Aponi had been seen by the police only once. The first time she delivered a dangerous gang banger to the GCPD two months ago, followed by her declaration of loyalty to protecting the city.
Ever since then, she personally delivered criminals to their front stoop with a detailed account of their criminal history, all kept neatly in a brown file. Due to her determination to assist the officers in catching criminals that were extremely difficult to find, this helped persuade a few people in the GCPD to trust her. Commissioner James Gordon, for example.
But others like Lieutenant Max Eckhardt, who trusted neither Batman or her, disgustedly looked at the two like they were insects infesting the city, more dangerous than the criminals they brought in.
Would they ever trust them? Probably not.
Would those two stop protecting the city because people didn't like them? Probably not.

Gotham City
9:30 p.m.
A little blue butterfly peacefully flutters through the night, shimmering like a beautiful constellation lost in the galaxy.
