Truth be told, Peter Parker doesn't actually know how he's supposed to go about winning Y/N over. Has he already won her over? They seemed close the last time they talked, but that might have been the joint surprise of her realizing that he was Spider-Man and him realizing that she had fire powers. Those circumstances could make anyone seem close, right?

Some part of him wants to believe that there's something more. Looking back, his life has practically revolved around her- he studies extra hard for tests so he can get a better grade, he practices dumb quips in front of his mirror so he's ready when they talk. Peter doesn't know what that means, but he probably should have figured it out a little earlier: he likes Y/N, or he thinks about her more than he would an enemy.

Besides, he needs her to not be an enemy right now. She knows his biggest secret of all time, his alternate identity as Spider-Man, and if he messes up, she could reveal him to everyone. True, he could reveal her powers too, but that's only as a last-ditch scenario.

However, Peter doesn't really think that Y/N is going to out him to the world as Spider-Man. At least, he hopes not. There's radio silence between the two of them after Peter goes home that night, and he doesn't actually speak with her until later the next school day.

In fact, he wasn't going to see her at all the next day due to a lack of shared classes, but he took it upon himself to make sure he did. They both share a lunch block, so Peter casually approached her when he saw her in the cafeteria.

Y/N looks faintly surprised when he swings into a seat next to her, but she must have known this was coming. "What do you want?" She asks.

Peter spreads his hands. "I feel like we need to talk about what happened. A lot of questions went unanswered."

Y/N nods, conceding the point. "I can't talk here, too many people are watching and this conversation needs to be private. Tell you what, my parents are out on overseas business, and they're going to be gone for the next couple of days. You can come to my place, and we can talk all we want. Nobody will be listening."

Peter ponders this. "That's still pushing off the talk. Besides, I have no idea where you live."

Also, going to her house seems like a fairly big step into the unknown. Peter has vague recollections of his Uncle Ben once telling him solemnly that inviting a girl into the house was a big deal, yet Y/N's casually offering up her home like it's nothing at all. Either he's reading way too much into this, or Y/N is hinting at something that's going over his head. Peter has a feeling that he would prefer it to be the latter.

Y/N must be able to read his mind, or at least guess at the war of emotions no doubt battling it out behind his eyes, because she grins. "It's not a big deal if you don't want it to be a big deal. I just figured we wouldn't want to talk about our inhuman extracurricular activities without the entire school eavesdropping. Besides, I've set up my own lab of sorts in the house. We can both use our powers, and I can see about fireproofing some of your webs."

This seals the deal for him. Peter really wants to see more of Y/N's powers to try and figure out how she's been using them. All he got to see was that one brief snippet back in the alleyway when she took down the robber, but he knows there has to be more. Besides, if she's talking about fireproofing his spiderwebs, that means they'll likely be in a position where they would be using their powers together.

Peter hasn't considered having a partner in crime (or non-crime? Peter does his best to have no crime at all) during his nightly patrols, but some part of his mind instantly warms at the thought of doing his usual work with Y/N by his side. It would be a better chance of protection, for one thing, but it would also give him a chance to get to know her outside of their usual rivalry.
