The night passed and it was finally the day of Halloween, the day when you were filled with the most unbearable guilt and untrusted memories. The one holiday you hated the most but cherished at the same time.
The sound of birds chirping where to be heard outside of your window, your hair slightly messy from how much you rolled around in your pillow last night.
You groaned and forced yourself out of bed, your feet touching the cold floor making you shiver while you made your way to your shower. The neatly folded outfit you set up the day before laying on your toilet cover. You turned on your shower, filling the water in your palm to check the temperature. Seeing it was already warming up, you began to change out of your clothes and hop into the nice shower.
The warm water hitting your back and head made your mind clear, today you had no dreams for once. It was calm and a peaceful night enough for you to sleep well. You wondered what you were going to do today, hoping you could get some candy for the trick-or-treaters if there was gonna be any.
Once you were done with your morning shower, you dried yourself up and got dressed up for the day. You honestly didn't feel like going out but you knew that it was better to get some fresh air... you were maybe thinking of going to a home decoration store since this house felt boring to you. You wanted to feel comfortable and safe in this home so you thought of maybe filling it up with stuff you find interesting in.
As you were about to grab your car keys you heard a loud knock at the door, making you jump a bit. You sighed thinking it was just the local mailman but hearing two other voices talk made you think twice.
You opened the door to come face to face with two police officers, their faces looking bland and tired.
"How can... I help you?" you said with a nervous tone, wondering why they are even here in the first place. You haven't done anything wrong, or maybe something happened in your neighborhood.
"Leslie Williams was... Killed 4 days ago along with her boyfriend, Olie Davidson. The last of the text messages between the two were speaking upon you. You were the last person to see Leslie Williams correct?" the cop said with a sigh, you felt your whole mind stop dead in its tracks. Your breath became shaky and your hands dropped your keys. The sound of the cops mumbling and the keys jingling on the floor was to be heard, it's like you could almost hear your own heartbeat.
why? is what you asked yourself.
------
"How long have you known Leslie Williams and Ollie Rocio?" the detective asked with his pen clicking in his hand.
"I knew them since elementary school, but I ended up moving away. I have returned to Haddonfield since I needed to recover from some personal issues," you said quietly, your eyes glistening with fear and confusion. You don't understand, you just saw Leslie... who would do something like this to her?
The detective then opens a file and spreads out pictures. Your stomach turns with the glance of seeing Leslie and Ollie's lifeless bodies, you have never seen such angry and vengeful aftermath of someone doing this.
"I know this must be hard for you, you already shared your alibi- I believe this killing wasn't just any random murder. This was extremely personal and aggressive, Leslie was stabbed multiple times in her body. Ollie's face was incredibly unrecognizable... the detective was right this wasn't just a murder. You felt like throwing up, your stomach kept dropping at every glance of each photo.
"There's... been an incident at smith gro-" the detective was interrupted by another police officer rushing in with sweat dripped on his face.
"Sir there was another killing, this time... it's bad," the officer said while panting, the detective grabbed the files and sighed.
