You appear during the day,
where your rays shine on earth
giving warmth to cold souls.
While I emerge at night,
where my light shines on earth
giving comfort to lost souls.
We were given a different purpose,
yet we feel the same way,
the light you give in my darkest moments,
letting me know you are always there
while I watch our children twinkling at night
The way I appear before you set,
giving you assurance that
I don't and will never forget
how we love one another
each passing day and night
even without holding each other tight
It feels like a tragedy seeing you leave while I rise
One of us dying to let the other shine feels like sacrifice
but we are always holding on to the day
we'll finally be in each other's arms once again.
