Kida's POV

"Alright Kiddos." I say as I finish loading my truck with Lanie, Axel, Hazel, Kingsley, Sloane, and Charlie. "You six have fun with Ash, Ali, Kiara, and Emma."

The six kids wave at me as I shut the door on the truck then Emma slowly drives away.

"Where are they going?" Sam asks.

"To the compound for ice cream." I say. "They don't need to be around guns."

They're also gonna help Ash, Ali, Kiara, and Emma set up for the scavenger hunt

"Oh."

"Everyone have their ear protection?" I ask as I walk back to the table where the pistol and ammo are sitting.

"Yeah." Everyone says.

"Good." I say. "We're using Subsonic Ammo so it shouldn't be too loud, but I'd rather you all still wear your ear protection.

"Subsonic?" Kelley asks.

"Subsonic ammo is designed to operate at velocities below the speed of sound." I say. "Basically there's little no crack when you fire a bullet."

"Oh."

"Can I ask something?" One of the Canadians asks.

"Yep." I say as I grab the pistol.

"Why'd you join the military?" Jordyn Huitema asks as I load the pistol.

"I had a murder charge." I say then I hear someone gasp so I look up and see everyone who didn't know about this looking at me with wide eyes.

This is public knowledge so I don't know why it's shocking.

"Murder?" Lucy Bronze says.

"An Original Block Pirus member..."

"Original Block Pirus?" A dutch lady questions.

"The block we lived on was controlled by the Magnolia Blocc Compton Crips and the Original Block Pirus were a rival gang." I say.

"Oh."

"Yeah." I say. "When I was walking home from a Track meet one day, I had to cut through Pirus territory to get home and one of the Pirus recognized me as being from the Crip block we lived on so he attacked me and tried to rape me, but I wrestled his gun away from him then I shot and killed him."

I'm glad my sisters weren't with me when I was attacked.

"The cops arrested me and charged me with murder." I say. "After I was charged, I was released on bond and while on bond the military visited our house and said they would help drop the charges if I joined what became SEAL Team 12."

"How'd the military pinpoint you?" Tobin asks.

"Honestly I have no clue." I say.

"Lauren didn't know either." Julie says.

I don't think anybody in the unit knew how we were selected.

"The military offered insanely good money so I made a deal with the military." I say. "If I lose my case and get convicted then I'd take them up on their offer and work for them for 20 years for half of what they were offering, but if I beat the case then I'd work for as long as I wanted for double what they were offering."

"And?" Janine Beckie asks.

"The chargers we're dropped the next day and I got paid double what the military offered while working for as long as I wanted."

"How'd the charges get dropped?"

"Security cameras." I say as I finish loading the pistol.

"Was it hard killing people?"
