Promiscuity is either a medal of masculinity or stain of feminity, depending on the gender, society assigned to you. One of the many fuck ups of patriarchy.
The therapist in Dear Zindagi seemed more open minded than an era of Bollywood movies, when he said "Why do we need that one special relationship?"
Got me thinking..
Isn't adultery or 'cheating on a partner' a thing because of the existence of the social institution of monogamy? And how it is considered "the" default? Just like how gender being either "woman" or "man" is default. Just how when I say police or doctor or pilot, he comes to your mind, and when I say nurse or househelp or harlot/prostitute, she or they comes to your mind.
Exactly why, when you get into a relationship, it is assumed to be exclusive and there is no conversation until one of them doesn't want to be. The concepts of adultery and cheating are dangerous vices and you are a sinner, but again where is the communication?
Is commitment the synonym of monogamy? Enlighten me, for I am unaware.
