Destiny's P.O.V

"Stefan?" I asked in shock. My older brother was leaning over my father's dead body, his blood dripping from his chin.

"D-Des?" Stefan stuttered, concern, fear, guilt, and pain swimming through his green eyes. He shakily stood up, cautiously so I wouldn't run.

"What did you do?" I growled at him, my eyes welling with angry tears.

"It was an accident." He explained, his voice shaking violently as he glanced down at our dead father. The one he killed. "Please Des, don't leave me. I'm scared." He begged, taking a small step in my direction. He didn't know fear. He wanted this. He begged Katherine to turn him. Now I was alone. My father and brothers were dead.

"Y-You're scared?" I questioned, my anger seeping from my veins to my voice. "I am scared!" I screamed, a few tears falling from my eyes.

"Don't be. I won't hurt you." Stefan promised me. I shook my head at him and turned to run off, but as soon as I turned he was there. The suddenness of his appearance caused me to jump back and knock over a glass vase, making it shatter on the ground. Stefan took another step towards me, but I fell to the ground in fear, cutting my hand on a glass shard in the process. I hissed in pain, pulling my stinging hand to my chest. Stefan stopped in his tracks, concentrating on the blood coming out of my hand.

"Stefan. D-Don't." I begged him, my eyes quickly widening. The veins grew under his eyes quickly as his fangs emerged from his gums. His red eyes, stared at my hand before looking up at me. His eyes showed no emotion, but I could feel that he was about to do something he would regret. He then jumped at me and sunk his fangs into my neck, draining the blood from my body. My scream pierced the air as I felt the life drain from my body.

"S-Stefan." I stuttered, seeing little black dots everywhere before my vision went black.

I woke up with a gasp, my head pounding and my throat burning.

"What happened?" I asked, rubbing my aching head. Suddenly it all came back to me. My father. Stefan. The vase. My death. "I died. I was supposed to die. Why am I not dead?!" I screamed, standing up from where I was laying.

"You are, technically." Emily spoke from outside of the gazebo I was laying in. It took me a second to process what she meant before I understood.

"I'm a vampire?" I asked, tears brimming in my eyes. I didn't want to be a vampire. I wanted to stay human and have a family. Now I can't and it's all Stefan's fault.

"Not yet. You are in transition." She explained, not bothering to look up from the locket she was working with.

"But how?" I asked, slowly walking her way. The closer I got to the sun, the more my eyes and skin burned, as if I was getting an internal sunburn.

"Katherine fed you her blood before you died. She wanted to make sure that if you died, she would see you again." Emily finally looked up, holding the locket out to me. I quickly put it on, knowing it would protect me from the sun if I decided to live.

"But I don't rememb-" I shook my head before I got a memory.

I laid in my bed, waiting for a moment I could speak with my brothers alone.

"Destiny, may I come in?" Katherine asked, standing in my doorway.
