CHAPTER FOUR
So After a few minutes of walking through the house, Angelus finally speaks. "Well," was all he said, so I lift my head to look at him. I'm waiting for him to continue, but he just stood there, looking at me with a stupid grin.
"Well, what?" I ask while we stand outside of what I'm assuming is the bathroom.
"Oh, come on, woman. You're seriously staying quiet on what just happened, back there?"
"I don't know what you mean, Cuz. What happened back where?"
He huffs a laugh and shook his head. "Ori, I think you're the only one that didn't see it then."My brows nip together again. What on earth is he talking about? He must see the confusion because he sighs and said something that had my brows lifting.
"The three-way tension you've got going on. You've got to have been blind as a bat not to have seen it."
"What? With who? Shit, Cuz, you've truly stumped me.""Jesus. Ori, you're such a Malteser; brown on the outside, but so blonde on the inside. I'm talking about you, Baxter, and Kaiden. While you and Baxter we're swooning over each other with doe, eyes. Well, Kaiden's in the background. He's watching it happen like, some sort of angry hawk. Bloody hell. I think you're done for Ori, but all I will say is this. Baxter's a good lad and you've seen how Kaiden is. He's a dick with the girls. And if what I'd seen was Kaiden staking his claim on you? Well, just stay strong Cuz because if he gets to you, and hurts you? Like all the others? Well, I will hurt him. Kick, boxer or not, I will kick his arse."
He ends by telling me the door behind me is, indeed the bathroom. Only to then turn on his heels walking away from me. He's leaving me standing there, feeling stunned and confused. Why the hell would Kaiden be bothered about me swooning over Baxter? He's never looked at me with interest. I mean, the first time I'd kinda met him well he didn't even say anything to me. The only words he ever spoke since then, was him, telling me I wanted him. I mean, come on what the shit was all that about? Unless he thinks he can make me his next conquest? No, that can't be it. No, because judging by the girls he goes for, they're all blondes. Whereas I'm their complete opposite, with my long brown almost black hair. My mum always said I have my dad's hair colour and his amazing blue eyes. Not forgetting his long dark lashes, ones that could swoon, anyone into submission. Whatever the hell that means? Jesus, she freaks me out at times.
After a few minutes of just standing there, I finally make my way into the bathroom, needing to pee. So after doing what needed to be done, I washed and dried my hands. However, once I'd stepped out of the bathroom, I realise that I have no one to show me the way back.
Oh, hell, you know what happens when I get myself lost. Crap! I attempt to make my way back to the party. Only to then turn a corner and find myself mesmerised by the most beautiful view of the garden. It's a huge window, and I see its dark outside. But the moon is shining down on it and because we're in the countryside, you can see all the stars shining so brightly. But then I see one star that's shining even more brightly than the others. I always say that it's my Dad when I see the brightest star. I know it's my Dad, and I know it's him looking down on me."Beautiful..."
My body jumps when he says this. I can feel my heart, pounding in my chest. Just with the sock of being snuck up on like that."Sorry, didn't mean to startle you squirt."
My heart rate kicks up another notch. Not only that, but my hackles again, too. I don't want him calling me this, this is only for my Dad, only he can call me this.
"Can you seriously stop calling me that, please?"
His brows nip together looking confused but that grin well it's still in place.
"Why not? Would you prefer me to call you, Oreo instead?"
He's chuckling now, and it makes me sigh because I'd rather he didn't call me any of those names.
"No, Ori will do, or Oriana. Only my mum and Dad, call me Squirt or bloody Oreo. So I'd rather you didn't call me any of them, thanks."
"Why though? I mean, I think it's cute."
My eyes go slightly wide again. Oh, my god, cute seriously?
"One, it is not cute and two, I don't want you calling me it ever."
