Bexon yawned as he looked up at his ceiling, string lights he never took down created shadows along the wall they were on.
It had been a long week, all of which seemed uneventful. Bexon had somehow managed to fuck up his sleeping schedule even more than it already was. He had been awake more of the week than he was asleep.
At the moment he felt more awake and rushing with more energy than Max when he told the blond he had just made cookies.
Bexon just wanted to sleep, however, sleep did not want him. He sighed knowing damn well he wasn't going to get any. He got up with a sigh.
Bexon walked out of his dark room, it wasn't all that late, only about 20:00, the sun fading away no doubt. Bexon knocked on the door with a bright and colorful collage with the quote: 'Good Vibes Only' it was as annoying as it was consistent with Max's personality.
Max opened the door with a bright smile that proved the point Bexon had thought.
"Bex, guess what we're doing tonight?" Max asked as if Bexon wasn't the one to knock on the door.
Bexon hated the guessing game for two reasons: one it involved him and two he was told to make a guess. Why not just be honest from the start and say what you meant? He didn't understand it. However, more times than not he knew the appropriate answer.
"What?"
"We are going to have a movie night!"
"A what?" Bexon asked dryly.
Max only smiled again, a painfully sunshine kind of smile no one could disagree with. Bexon wasn't even surprised that he was agreeing to it already.
He really was sleep-deprived.
"A movie night, where we eat junk food and watch a bunch of movies while in a fort," Max spoke as if it were obvious. As if Bexon had movie nights all the time.
Bexon had a few questions for the blond but was unable to say anything before Max was on the phone ordering takeaway as if it really was something the two did all the time. Hadley was out with her best friend—or girlfriend in denial—and he wasn't sure when she was getting back, it could be anywhere from an hour to being in the morning two days from now.
"I guess I'll get the blankets," Bexon grumbled.
He never really built forts as a kid all that much, Grace would sometimes make them and they would pretend it was a magical kingdom or something to pass time. It was fun but Grace and Lucas usually built it and Bexon just grabbed all the things they would need for the make-believe kingdom.
Bexon walked to the laundry room and grabbed a few of the extra bedding and blankets they had, mostly Hadley's doing, picnics and random outdoor concerts were a must in the summer so she kept old comforters and blankets that would be safe to use outdoors. They were all cleaned before being packed away, smelling like they were pulled out of the fabric softener aisle of the store.
"Okay, two comforters, and twenty blankets should work," Bexon told himself.
He got to work not bothering to wait on Max to get off the phone with his long takeaway order and instead moved the couch closer to the TV as he did his best to lay everything out. Bexon moved the coffee table to the side as he placed the lighter blankets on top and the thicker ones on the floor to make it more comfortable.
"Woah, this looks great, Bee!" Max exclaimed. He peeked his head in the fort and looked around.
From the outside, it looked more like some mass of blankets taking up most of the living room, but from the inside it was perfect. The blankets were light enough to stay in place and out of the way.
