CW: Kaylee leaves. Not really a warning but it's a little angsty. Nothing too bad, this story is pretty lighthearted just a few angsty moments for some chapters.
Max woke up with a stiff neck and a warm body on top of him. It was similar to the time he woke up in the tent, arms wrapped around Bexon who seemed to be using Max as a body pillow. Max looked around for a moment, the house was a mess of taco and hot dog toppings from the night before.
Max carefully got up without waking Bexon.
Max silently walked back to his room and quickly got changed into shorts and his running sneakers, leaving his t-shirt on as he rushed out the door.
It was seven in the morning and Max had only gotten an hour of sleep last night. He knew he shouldn't have watched so many episodes of the show, but it was fun and it seemed to help with not only his own mood but also seemed to help Bexon's mood.
Max was a little upset that today was the day he had to drop Kaylee off at the airport, it was rare for them to see each other more than once every six or so months. They video called and texted, but it was still difficult for Max to be away from his family. It sucked living so far from one of his best friends.
So Max got up and went for a much-needed run to get some of the anxiety off his chest. Ever since he started running the anxiety had gone down a lot or at the least the panicky part of it had. It was a way he could get rid of the unwanted feelings and get him moving for that day.
Since moving house, Max had kept putting it off. Normally he would run eight or so laps around the block or until his running playlist was played through.
The run was nothing much, just enough to get him moving. It was enough to wake him up a little even if he knew the feeling would not last.
When Max got back home Bexon was slowly waking up and Kaylee was singing so Max assumed she was back and from the sounds of it getting a shower. It was a Moore family habit, performing musicals and/or just singing obnoxiously loud while in the shower for no reason.
Max took the time to clean up the living room and the kitchen while Bexon made breakfast.
"Looks like I missed a party last night," Kaylee said, referring to the mess of the living room Max had yet to get to.
"More like binging a show and stuffing our faces into the early morning," Bexon commented.
He seemed like he was in a much better mood than last night. Max was happy to see he was no longer looking like he would run off or something if someone so much as looked at him wrong.
"Mmh," Kaylee hummed with a knowing smirk.
Max rolled his eyes at her, but Kaylee winked at him. There was no winning with her and Max knew it.
Kaylee got her things packed while Max quickly got ready for work and they all ate one last breakfast with one another before rushing out the door. Bexon followed and insisted on driving to the airport.
"It isn't a question, Maxwell," he grumbled. "You'll just get lost anyway, and then you'll be late for work."
He was right, but Max felt bad for whatever reason. He knew Bexon wouldn't do something if he didn't want to or offer to do something without following through. He sighed and got into the car after he helped Kaylee load her things into the back.
"Damn that boy is going to be the death of you," Kaylee whispered before Bexon got into his car.
Max knew she was right, somehow. Even if they were just housemates, like he and Hadley were—with Bexon it felt different. There was just something about the man that Max was drawn to.
