By the time Bexon finished up with work and got home Max already had everything in his truck ready for the trip. Bexon didn't want to go, however, he knew that it would make Grace happy, and now that Max was involved if the dark-haired man backed out of it now he would never hear the end of it.
Bexon made sure to do one final check of the house making sure everything would be okay for the few days that they were gone.
"Is he always this, uh crazy?" Bexon asked when he walked out to see how much Max had packed.
Kaylee nodded.
"He likes making sure he has everything since he can be forgetful and didn't bring a change of clothes more than once while we went on vacation," she explained.
In the truck, there was only room for the three of them. Hadley had chosen to go with Mya, Parker, and Asher thankfully. The truck was full with a bunch of stuff Bexon couldn't imagine needing, yet, Max was absolutely sure that a situation would come up and if it did then they had it.
"In what situation will we need fairy lights?" Bexon asked dryly.
"It adds to the aesthetic," Max gasped in fake hurt. "Liv and Finn are going to meet us there with the rest of our camping besties," Max informed them.
Bexon prepared himself for the nightmare of a week to begin.
"Since you haven't been camping in a long time I packed a little extra," Max muttered. He put the backpack Bexon had in the backseat that was already crammed full.
"Really?" Bexon asked. "I couldn't tell, it just looks like you're taking half the house with you."
Kaylee laughed as she got into the backseat, the only space that wasn't occupied by whatever Max decided to bring with them.
Kaylee was the only one in the back with just enough room for her seat, no more; Bexon offered to switch with her, however, she didn't want to be upfront with her brother's frightening driving. Then Bexon really wanted to switch seats with her because she was right.
"Well, there was a lot to bring. Blow-up mattresses, tents, campfire supplies—"
Bexon tuned Max out as he talked. The blond could and would go on about nature rules for hours and there was no way Bexon was going to listen to him talk about what berries to eat, if it had leaves of three leave it be, or how to navigate through the woods—which Bexon was pretty sure if it was up to Max they would get lost and die in the middle of some forest where no one would find them.

After an hour but felt like ten—they arrived at the campsite. Bexon had never been so happy to see a campsite in his life. The car drive of show tunes, stories, and musical reenactments made him want to open his door and jump out.
The campground had a small shop near the parking lot, but that was about it. The area was surrounded by trees and dirt paths with signs telling you where they went, marked by colorful dots at the top.
"Bex," Erin grinned. She walked over and gave him a quick half-hug. Bexon was never one for hugs, but he let it slide since Erin was just excited.
"This is going to be so much fun," Grace exclaimed, walking over to them as well.
Bexon didn't comment that it felt like the final nail in his coffin.
Grace managed to get one of the bigger lots not too far from the lake. The spot looked more like three lots merged into one. It was kinda comforting to know how close they were, if someone were to be murdered they would go out with a fight—or maybe they would just die in the woods—whichever came first.
