Eira's POV

I jumped out of my chair and practically sprinted to my bookshelf, my finger hovering over each book as I scan the titles looking for the right one. I stopped on the fourth book of the second row, and there it was 'The Vampire of the Blue Moon'. I open up the book and flip through the pages, my mind only focused on one part.

"There it is", I quietly read the part aloud, "A blue leather cover and jet black pages . . . A clockwork grimoire linked to a silver chain . . . It was a special book created by Vanitas, imbued with the power to interfere with vampires' true names."

I turned to look back at the man who lay asleep on my couch, I walked back over and sat on the chair in a dazed state still staring at him.

'What is he doing with the Book of Vanitas!? He's definitely not a vampire, he's 100% human. . . . . . . . Did he steal it? . . . . . . . . Wait the mark on his arm!'

I slowly and gently grab his arm and start to peel the glove off when his other hand shoots out and grabs my arm tightly. I let out a short scream of surprise and quickly pull my hand away, or at least I attempt to but his grip on my arm tightens. He opens his eyes and looks up at me, I freeze.

'HIS EYES ARE THE SAME AS MINE!! BUT THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE HE'S HUMAN, RIGHT?'

"Are you human?"

The question leaves my mouth before I even realize what I've said, He looks at me surprised.

" . . . . . Yes, what are you?"

"Hehe, what do you mean?"

"So you're a vampire."

"N-no I'm not a vampire, vampires are all extinct."

"My, but you are a terrible liar."

I look down at my feet before giving a small nod. I look back up at him, staring at his eyes which are similar to mine.

'How does he have the same color eyes as me, this shade is only carried by those of the Blue Moon clan. Is he connected to them somehow? Are there more vampires like me? I'd settle for even just one person.'

"ey . . . . hey!"

"Hmm sorry did you say something?"

He groans and gives me an exasperated look.

"Who are you? And where am I?"

"Oh, you must not remember you were kinda out of it. My name's Eira and you're in my apartment", I explain while slowly trying to worm my arm out of his grip, he frowns at my attempt and pulls me forward a little.

"Why?"

"Well you were hurt and I tried taking you to the doctor's but you refused so I took you home with me. Who are you?"

" . . . . . . . My name's Vincent."

Vincent's eyes trailed towards the book in my other arm then he looks back up glaring at me.

"Why do you have my book?"

I looked down at the book as my eyes bulged out of my head.

"Oh I was umm reading it, it's a pretty intriguing book."

He smirked at me as he said, "Liar. You didn't even open it"

With indignation, I questioned, "How do you know that?"

"Cause it's locked and only I have the key."

'That's impossible, I opened it a second ago . . .'

I puffed my cheeks out and frown before handing him back the Book of Vanitas, he let go of my arm and I sat back down in the chair. Vincent was still smirking as he took it back and put it away. I was staring at him as he looked at all the wounds I bandaged.

"What!?"

"Well, I uhh was curious as to how you got hurt?"

"I was in a fight with someone."

"Who?"

"Hmm, not telling."

"Where did you get that book?"

"Someone gave it to me."

"Who?"

"You ask too many questions!"

"Ahh sorry. . . . . Umm may I ask one more?"

"What is it?"

I paused unsure of how to ask the question, I'll look like an idiot if I'm wrong about him being connected to the Clan of the Blue Moon. Vincent seemed to be getting impatient with me, well it was now or never. I jump out of my seat, startling him.

"AREYOUPARTOFTHECLANOFTHEBLUEMOON?"

I waited for his answer, facing the floor with my eyes closed. When I don't hear an answer I look up again, he's standing farther away from me holding the Book of Vanitas out ready to fight. He's glaring at me, I look over confused, and try to get closer.

"Not one more step."

I halted then it clicks, and painful memories of my parents flash through my mind. I understand, he thinks I'm going to attack him cause I'm a vampire. I put my hands up and take a couple of steps back.

"I'm not who you think I am. I am not one of them, I'm-"

"You are not going to fool me, I already know you're a vampire."

I lower my head down and let my eyes change, I feel my fangs sharpen then I look back up.

"It's true I am a vampire."

He's so shocked he almost drops the book, we both stay like that until he finally spoke.

"Hmm, I never thought I would meet another vampire of the blue moon."

"Another?!"

"Where do you think I got this book from?" He smirks.

"Ahhh true. . . . . wait did you get it from the Vanitas?!"

Vincent smiles and nods. My face lights up with joy and excitement, I jump up and down pumping my fists in the air.

"YES!!!"

Suddenly I hear a banging on my wall followed by my neighbor yelling to keep it down. I quickly cover my mouth as a blush covers my face, I look over at the clock it's now 11:13. I still have the biggest grin on my face as I almost bound my way over to Vincent.

"Where are they? Could I meet them?"

At my question the joyous atmosphere fades, frowning he shakes his head.

"They're dead."

At his words it feels like the floor has fallen out from underneath me, I shake my head and mutter no, no, no, over and over. I rush past him and out onto the balcony, tears start to fall like a flood, I can't hold them back as I crouch down and start to sob. Eventually, I hear Vincent come out onto the balcony and sit down next to me.

"I'm all alone. I'm all alone."

He doesn't say anything, he just wraps his arm around me rubbing my back until I stopped crying and fell asleep.
