I walked into the dorm and was surprised to see a lot of people crammed up in just one place. "What were we here for?"
"They are mourning their cat's death," Jaemin answered my question. He stood next to me with the same reaction I have. Mourning for a cat? Funny. This definitely reminded me of Gilmore Girls when Morey and Babette's cat died.
"And who's cat is it that died?" I asked one more question. Everyone seemed to have fun though, no one is sad. Maybe this is one of their reasons to throw a party. "Hendery and Ten. Sad boys," his lips were in a thin line as he walked in, greeting everyone in the living room.
Jaemin is undeniably amiable. He makes friend anywhere he goes, it was easy for him, like picking up trash on the floor. It was an admirable trait of him but one hard thing is he never get to settle for one. How can he even remember everyone's name?
"Oh Donghyuck, how was the last party I told you about?" Xiao Jun came to me with a glass of fruit punch. He passed it to me with a sweet smile. "It was pretty good, nothing interesting happened," except for that part when Jaehyun kissed me.
"You know I heard we'll be having a new student soon,"
"In our department?"
"Not sure, maybe," I just nodded at his words, getting a little dizzy by the lights. It was too bright. "What is this get-together for actually?" I asked him after taking a sip of punch. I tasted a little bit of alcohol in it.
"A small party if you want an honest answer. No one's cat died, it's just chilling on the couch there," I turned my gaze towards to area that Xiao Jun had pointed and there I see a calico cat sleeping soundly on the couch.
"I'll go now see you later," he said and walked away. I took a sit next to the cat and played with it, touching its soft fur. "You like cats?" I looked up to see the owner of the voice and it was not who I expected, Jaehyun.
"You're here?" I asked. It's quite odd to see someone so popular at a boring party like this, with no disco light or alcohol. "Why wouldn't I be here?" he puts his hand in his pockets and sat down on the couch.
"Because this whole party is dry and none of your friends are here," I took a quick look around the dormitory. No music, colorful blinding lights, foods, or even alcoholic drinks. No body was eating each others faces. It's like a catholic party or just a church kids type of party.
"Anyway I just wanted to say sorry to you for what I did a few days ago," he started. His eyes didn't even look at mine, it was stuck to the napping cat. "What's there to apologize? You did nothing wrong,"
"I feel like I shouldn't have kissed you,"
"What?"
"Weren't you weirded out by it?" His eyes were now on me with both eyebrows raised. "No. It was okay, lovely, sweet what more can I say about it?" I reassured him. Do you see how he cares about other people? Jaehyun is an odd person.
"Hm didn't expect that. Oh and good luck for tomorrow," he added.
Tomorrow is the competition.
"Right, thank you,"
____
"Donghyuck wake up you're fucking late!" Jaemin threw me off my bed and ran around the house, getting ready for class while taking care of me at the sams time. I looked at the time and it was 1 hour before the competition starts, I'm very very late.
"Shit what happened?! I put on the alarm!"
"I don't maybe it tried to sabotage you today how should I know? You monster inc woman is in front of our dorm!"
"And you didn't let her in what the fuck?!" I quickly made my way towards the door and opened it, there Irene stands with the most uninterested face. "You can scream at me after I'm done,"
I took a quick bath and put on the white tuxedo Irene gotten for me a few days ago. She said makeup was the main point if I wanted presence on the stage and so I did it. Just a little eyeliner at the corner of my eyes to bring out its shape.
"See you later Jaemin!" I yelled before leaving, running towards the parking lot to get to Irene's car.
"Didn't I tell you to fix you attitude millions of years ago?" She said as soon as I entered the vehicle. She gave me a side eye and started the car, reversing and driving off as fast as possible.
"Oh you're exaggerating," I let out a huff and relaxed myself, getting as much air as possible due to the hot atmosphere. "As much as I exaggerate, you should've known better! This is not something you can play around Donghyuck, I can't believe you're doing this,"
I kept quiet the whole ride there, I couldn't even breathe properly due to how nervous I was. The fact that Irene scolded me didn't make me feel better, and now my thoughts are killing me. What if I don't make it? Am I going to repeat history again and again? This is Korea, my country, and I'm the representative for the whole damn country. Everyone is putting their hopes on me.
I got on twitter to see what they were up to. Some of them were already outside of the theater, waiting for the main door to open up. They were putting good words for me, just as I expected. I had more than a thousand of notifications telling me how I should do well and a bunch of good luck from strangers.
@haechanahceah
thank you everyone, I will do my best today! Keep on supporting me throughout the competition ❤️
8:43 am"You're aware that the competition will be live, right? On the television," oh, I definitely forgot about that part. My parents are most likely to watch it. "Yes of course,"
"Are you nervous?" Irene asked to kill the silence. I said yes and went back to my phone, looking at it blow up with notifications. "You seem to have a lot of fans," she smiled.
"Of course. I'm handsome and I can play the piano, everyone would die for someone like me," I said jokingly, earning a chuckle from the woman on the driver's seat. "You have a lot of things to say don't you,"
"Absolutely,"
