Chapter 3: Getting Stronger!

It has been a week ever since Asta was rescued from the courtroom by his own father. In this week he was able to get used to the new environment but he was never allowed to go outside the fence that enclosed the modest manor as his father put it.

It's not that his father was trying to be mean to him if anything it was for his own good. He wasn't ready to go out given that they were currently in the Neutral territory so they were basically close to the border of the Spade Kingdom.

Asta may have faced powerful adversaries such as the elves who were known to be blessed with mana and his fight with the high rank devil Zagred had cemented that Asta was powerful even though he had several help from two legendary mages along with Yuno, Captain Yami along with others.

The devil possessed in the Spade Kingdom were a different case completely, some of them might not be at the level of Zagred but they were able to use at the very least 40-50% of their devil power as for the Dark Triad they were able to use 80% and are several times stronger than Zagred since they were possessed by high ranking devil.

Asta had learned that the Heart Kingdom and Spade Kingdom had a magic ranking system called 'Magic Stages' that isn't used in the Clover Kingdom. The ranking has 10 stages in total with the 9th stage being the weakest which meant you had practically no magic whatsoever, the highest rank is 0 stage which meant that the mage is capable of fighting devil possessed mage but eliminating them is impossible.

Due to the Clover Kingdom having unique magic given that they gave up the protection of mana, a new stage was created which later came to be called 'Arcane Stage'. Those mages have a unique type of magic that isn't related to the four elements which is Wind, Earth, Lighting and Fire.

Those Arcane Stage mages could not be measured by the tier system that was created since their magic is capable of killing the devils that even Stage 0 mage are incapable of doing.

His father had always told him that having immense magic power meant that you could fight for long and use high level spells that most others can't do but you could still be defeated by someone with a much weaker magic. His father always reminded him that it's how you use your magic that makes a difference in the battle and it's not like it was a new concept for him.

Fuegoleon was a prime example of how with good use and understanding of your magic could make a difference in battle. No.1 Carl, a corpse created by one of the former members of the Eye of the midnight sun was strong having a very powerful and impenetrable barrier but Fuegoleon who should not be able to easily break the barrier was able to one shot the corpse by using his magic smartly and efficiently to get the job done.

There are people like Zora Ideale, the guy didn't have the magic of a royalty or a noble but he was smart. He was a careful planner and used his magic as it should be and that is smartly. It was because of that he was able to overpower with complete ease several nobles and royals in the Royal Knights Exam. Zora had proven himself even further when several possessed Magic Knights were one shot by him despite their magic being on steroids.

To put things in a much simpler perspective, just imagine two boxers standing facing each other. On one side of the ring there is the fighter who is in top physical condition and has several records of victory under his name, the other side of the ring there is the fighter who is smaller and looks pretty average at first glance
