Meredith felt the ball and shook her head as she laughed.

Alex nodded his head towards a man running over, "heads up."

"Sorry again." Derek said, he felt awkward. He looked at the brown haired man who had his arm around Meredith, she had clearly moved on.

"Once again, not a probl-" she turned around and stopped.

"Meredith." Derek breathed.

"Derek." She gasped, watching his eyes flicker from the small girl asleep on her lap to her face.

She looked at him in shock, this could not be happening, no now, not when everything was finally falling perfectly into place for her.

"Your here." He said.

"Yeah." She said awkwardly.

Scott picked up on the awkwardness, the tension was radiating from Meredith's body as she sat as stiff as ever, he didn't know who this guy was but it was clear that there was some kind of history.

"I-I don't even know what to say to you." Derek shook his head.

"I'm sorry." She sniffled.

"No, you don't get to apologise." He said nastily.

"Derek, please." She looked up at him.

"I went through hell, absolute hell. How could you do that to me?" His voice raised.

"You act like I'm the one who ruined everything. If you don't remember, your the one that changed everything." She snapped.

"Yeah and I apologised, profusely, but you didn't want to hear it, instead you packed up and left, never giving me the chance to make it up to you or my child." His voice cracked as he acknowledged the small girl.

"Well I didn't see you looking for us so you clearly moved on without us." She said as she wrapped her arms around her daughter tighter.

Derek looked back down at the small girl, he couldn't see her face but he could see the locks of curly, dark brown hair, hair that was identical to his. He didn't have to second guess who the child was, he already knew.

"Is that, is she?" He sighed and looked sadly at her.

"Yeah." She stroked Ellyse's hair.

"Mer, we're gonna go, okay? This seems too personal. Call me if you need anything." Alex said as he and Jo got up. She nodded in response and turned to Scott.

"Do you want me to stay?" He asked rubbing her arm.

"Wait in the car." She smiled sadly.

"Okay, I'll be waiting for you." He kissed her head and felt her lean into him. He took a look at Derek before leaving.

"What did you name her?" His eyes swelling with tears.

"Ellyse."

"I'm assuming she has your last name too?" He snorted.

"Her name is, Ellyse Sienna Shepherd." Meredith looked down.

"The least you could do." Derek scoffed.

"Derek please, can we just not fight." She sighed.

"Screw you Meredith. Screw you." He pointed his finger.

"I'm so sorry. I just- I, I didn't know what to do Derek. I was broken, I felt like I had no one on my side, I needed to get away and I never planned for it to be this long but you never looked for me so I just assumed you lost interest." She cried.

"Lost interest! Thats my child Meredith! My child that was ripped away from me, my child that I've never met! Because of you. You destroyed me, I nearly ruined my life because of you." He shouted.

"I'm sorry." Her cries still leaving her body.

"Sorry isn't good enough, it never will be. You ruined everything, you ruined my whole life without a second thought, your selfish and vindictive and I could never forgive you." He spat.

She couldn't even respond. She felt like a child as she sat there speechless with his finger pointing in her face and him looking down at her. All she could do was cry, she didn't want to cry in front of him but her body wouldn't let her do anything else.

"Derek." A voice interrupted them.

"What?" He snapped.

"We can hear you shouting from over there, you need to calm down." Mark assured him.

"I can't. I'm too angry with her." He spat looking into her eyes.

"I know but fighting isn't going to get you anywhere so just stop. She's upset, enough is enough."

"I don't care if she's upset, I was upset for months, for years. She doesn't deserve any sympathy from me." He shouted not noticing the movement on Meredith's lap.

"Momma?" Ellyse spoke up tiredly.

"Hey sweetie, go back to sleep." She tried to sooth her daughter so that she wouldn't have to witness the scene that had been caused.

"Your sad momma." She said as she stroked the tear on Meredith's cheek.

"I'm okay Ells." She smiled.

Ellyse turned her attention to the two men standing next to her, she curled closer into Meredith.

"She's beautiful." Derek breathed as he finally got a glimpse of his daughter.

"She looks just like you Shep." Mark smiled and nudged his arm.

"It's good to see you Meredith." Mark nodded and smiled at her.

Meredith smiled slightly to acknowledge him.

"I'm tired momma." Ellyse yawned.

"I know baby girl, we're going home." She said as she stood up.

"Meredith." Derek stopped her.

"What?" She turned around and looked at him, torment clear in her face.

"This isn't over." He told her.

"I don't know what more you want Derek, I'm tired of everything and I don't want to fight with you anymore but that seems to be all you want to do. Just let me go, please." She begged as more tears left her eyes.

As angry as he was with Meredith, he could see in her eyes how distressed she was. She was pleading with him. He didn't want to fight with her, he wanted to know his daughter but they needed to talk and work out their unresolved issues first. Part of him still loved her, she was the mother of his child, she would always hold some place in his heart. But he had Addison and she had somebody else.

"Can we meet whenever your free?" Derek sighed, running his fingers through his hair.

"We can." She nodded, picking Ellyse up who instantly cuddled into her neck.
