Cassy POV

"Monster!"

"Sorry"

"Die you piece of trash!"

"Sorry,"

"Disappear! I can't handle such a mistake!"

"Sorry!"

"Worthless!"

"Sorry,"

"Unloveable Scum!"

"Sorry,"

"Evil witch!"

"Sorry,"

Every insult shot right through me. Everyone's word fuelled the flame of rage. Every look broke my heart into pieces.

"I love you!" Conner says

"Your our family," Martha says as they open their arms wide for me to embrace them

"I missed you!" I say as I run toward them...only when I do reach them, their faces are bloodied, their eyes are red, their bodies dead.

"You led them to us...you killed us!" They scream

"You're a monster! No one will ever care for you!" They yell

"No...no...please not you too," I say back as I break down in tears

"Cassy!" They scream with voices of anger

"Please stop! Please!"

"Cassy!" They repeat.

"Noooooo!"

"Cassy!" (Y/N) says as I'm thrusted awake.

I take a huge gulp of air as (Y/N)s eyes meet mine.

"You were screaming," he says as my eyes search around our tent...then I remembered.

Martha and Conner are dead. And I'm on the road with (Y/N).

We left the cabin shortly after the attack. (Y/N) insisted that I follow him...so I did.

He wasn't lying, he really was just wandering around when he met us, however, he seems to have more purpose than before.

Almost as if he knows what to look for now.

"I'm awake," I say in a cold sweat.

"Good, I was getting worried, you were crying and screaming sorry," he begins but I cover his mouth with my hand

"I know," I tell him.

"Are you sure everything is ok?" He asks me again as I nod.

"I'm fine," I smile. Nothing is fine.

"Are you sure?" He asks again. No...I'm not sure.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I say again as he looks at me hesitantly. Please ask me again! I'll say I'm not fine this time, I swear.

In the end, he didn't ask again.

(Y/N) POV

Cassy's condition is worse than I thought. She has consistent nightmares. All night, every night.

I can tell she isn't getting the rest she needs, the bags under her eyes are a clear sign of that.

She says she is fine, but I know that under that tough facade is a girl crumbling apart. Her voice says she is fine, but her eyes are asking desperately for help.

I fear that she may be in a sort of shock. I've heard stories of Jinchuriki being treated horribly. Perhaps she is in a state where she needs help but can't ask for help because she has never received it before.

Therefore, she's stuck in a loop that never ends. She wants help but rejects it because she is scared she may be betrayed.

I fear that the death of Martha and Conner is affecting her deeper than even I can imagine. The only two people to have helped her, died in an attack aimed at her.

Swapping topics! at the very least I know what to look for now.

The Gedo statue and the Zetsu are on the hunt for tailed beasts, which means, I need to find them before they can.

Once we are all gathered, we can likely trap the Gedo statue and destroy it...

Plus, Cassy has a grudge against it anyway

"You see the tracks," I ask Cassy as she looks at me

"Yeah?" She asks a little confused

"That's dinner," I mutter as I tell her the process of tracking animals. She caught on strikingly fast.

I hand her a throwing knife when we approach a rabbit.

"You know how to use it?" I ask as she shakes her head no.

Quietly, I go through the motion of throwing a knife.

I repeat a couple of times and she nods.

The rabbit, still unsuspecting, is targeted by Cassy and she strikes.

The knife sails at a high speed that would be impossible to dodge...only if it hit the target. Instead, it flew harmlessly over the target and struck a tree.

The sudden sound startled the bunny and Cassy let out a curse

"Damn it!" She says as I smile.

"At least you hit the tree with the blade and not the handle," I smile

"Most don't even do that on their first try," I say as I dig out the kunai.

"Still, missed," she says glumly.

"Not like we will starve," I say as I dig out some leftover food from last night.

We set up camp and went to sleep shortly after.

Due to my limited resources, both Cassy and I must share a tent. I swore that I would get another tent at the first chance we got, but until then it's one tent to protect us from the elements.

"No,"

I wake up from sudden sounds.

"I'm sorry," I hear Cassy mumble.

She's having another nightmare. I feel bad for her.

Ever since Martha and Conner dead, Cassy has been different. She talked to me before their deaths even without trusting me. Lately, I'm lucky to get even a couple of sentences.

I'm worried for her. The only bit of reassurance I have is that the one-tailed beast won't leak his anger into her anymore.

Maybe that's they she is acting the way she is. She doesn't know how to fill the void where the anger once was.

"Nooo," she says

"Someone...please....help me!" She says extremely quietly.

"Hey," I say shaking her.

"Cassy," I say again as she stirs away.

"Yeah?" She asks confused as to why she was suddenly woken up.

"I'm here for you," I tell her as silence consumes us.

I didn't get a reply. But I could tell that Cassy understood what I said.
