Kushina POV
I look at Naruto as he happily sleeps in his crib.
My heart burns in warmth as I look at his golden hair.
"You look so much like Minato, ya know," I say as he coos
I sit in a chair next to him and I spend an hour just looking at him.
I didn't feel bored or anything, I just wanted to look at my child.
I think of what coulda happened if (Y/N) wasn't there.
Would Madara's plan have worked?
And then whatever happened with the nine tails...would I have died?
My head thinks as the door opens
"Kushina, I'm home," Minato says as I look at him
"Welcome home," I say as he shows me a slight smile
"I'll watch Naruto, I know you can't wait to see (Y/N)," he says as I nod
"Thank you...ill be back soon," I say as he nods
(Y/N) POV
I was sitting in my new dark abyss.
The colours that once graced my eyes failed to exist.
But this is an improvement.
It's been a day since Minato came by.
Since then a lot has changed. For instance, I can see...only without colour.
I'm glad I didn't totally lose my vision...that would suck a lot.
I think it may improve more and Ill see colour soon enough
But colours are washed out to be only black or white.
I hear a knock on the door as it opens
"Hello," a familiar female voice says as I feel my face curl into a smile
"Kushina," I say as she looks at me. Her eyes smile as they land on me.
"You scared me, I didn't know what happened to you," she says walking into the room
"I don't know either," I mutter as she takes a seat
"Either way, I think you saved me and Naruto," I tell him as he nods
"I've been told that...but I don't know how I did it," I answer her
"Hmm," she mutters as she notices something
"I thought you couldn't see?" She asks me as my eyes track her.
"Overnight, I regained some of my vision...I can't see colours though," I point out as she smiles
"That's good," she says
"Yeah," I say as silence falls on us.
"So...how's the little one?" I ask her as she smiles
"He's a cutie, looks just like his father," she says as I laugh
"Let's hope he doesn't get into as much trouble," I joke as he nods
"Unlikely, but I can have hopes," she says as something comes to my mind
"He was surrounded by the nine tails chakra, right? Is he having any issues related to that?" I ask her as she smiles
"Nothing out of the ordinary," she says as I nod
We talked for hours. Before now, I haven't sat down and actually talked to Kushina in-depth about anything since she started to date Minato.
It was nice to talk to her...but at the same time, my chest tightened harder and harder as we spent more time together.
I think I was almost over her
After hours of talking, we were interrupted by the door opening.
"Miss Kushina, Lord Fourth has a very important meeting with the council," a nurse says as the redhead nods
"I'll see ya later," she says with a smile
"Yeah, cya," I say returning a smirk
It wasn't even an hour later when Minato came to my room.
"You're my best friend and all...but what are you doing here? Thought you had a meeting," I say as I notice his gloomy expression.
"Yes, I had a meeting...however...the meeting was about you," Minato begins
"That doesn't sound good," I point out as he agrees
"Yes...the council wants to silently kill you...an under the radar death.., no one would notice," he says as I keep a straight face
"I vetoed it...but they aren't happy...I tried my best to allow you to stay in the village...but they won that one," he says as I look at him confused
"I'm getting kicked out?" I ask him as he shakes his head
"No...I managed to convince them to let you go on an important mission...that was hard enough to get by them," he tells me
"And what's the mission?" I ask him
"It's a mission I probably would have sent you on anyway...it's finding Madara," he says as I cautiously nod
"Ok...I'm guessing you received info from Obito?" I ask
"Yes...Obito gave us the location of Madara's hideout. But it's clear that Madara has likely moved on assuming he knows of Obito's betrayal," He says as I nod
"Ok...so a manhunt?" I ask as Minato nods
"Exactly,"
"So...what do I do?" I ask
"It's simple...Obito will show you the hideout...and then you are to track him down," Minato says as he doesn't look sure of himself
"I would rather you look and then return to the village...but the council is forcing this mission to be at least 10 years long," he says as my eyes widen
"So I can't return for ten years?" I ask him as he nods
"That is correct," he mutters
"Starting as soon as you can," he adds
"Wow...they sure put you in a tight spot," I mutter as he nods
"Yeah, they just want you out of the village," he tells me
"Hmm,"
"Well...I don't have the choice now do I?" I ask him as he shrugs
"I don't think so," Minato says with a sad expression
"It'll be fine, only 10 years," I say as he looks at me
"Kushina would be extremely sad," he points out as I smile
"She has a baby now, Naruto will keep her preoccupied," I point out
"But still,"
"Minato, listen...ill leave right away. Tell Obito to meet me outside the village tomorrow morning," I say getting out of bed for the first time in a while.
My body was a little sore from no activity, but it was nothing I couldn't handle.
"Are you sure?" Minato asks
"Yep...Madara needs to be stopped,"
