Lyra
After being hexed and jinxed the first time by the marauders
Sobs wracked my tiny frame and I dragged myself away from where they had stood before they ran off to class when the bell rang. I dragged myself to an empty corner in the corridor and calmly hummed to myself. I heard the bell ring which meant it must've taken me an awful long time to get to this corner- heck, it must've taken me a long time to actually move after they left!
I began to softly sing a song I had heard when I was raised among the muggles. (Yes, I know that this is the seventies but work with me here)
"All those arrows you threw, you threw them away.
You kept falling in love and then one day,
When you fell, you fell towards me
When you crashed in the clouds, you found me
Oh, please don't go.
I want you so
I can't let go
For I lose control."
I was slightly aware of footsteps behind me but I didn't turn, not caring, thinking it was probably Lily.
"Get these left handed lovers out of your way
They look hopeful but you, you should not stay
If you want me to break down and give you the keys
I can do that, but I can't let you leave
Oh, please don't go."
I finally stopped singing, wondering why Lily wasn't saying anything. "Lils?" I heard running footsteps. That's when I knew who had been listening.
Meeting Isabel Fortescue
I got back to my dorm to see a blonde girl there, unpacking her bags. She must've heard me approach, as she turned toward me. She had blue eyes and a kind face. She smiled at me.
"Hello.." I trailed off. She noticed and smiled brightly.
"Belle. Well, it's Isabel but I prefer anything but that."
I grinned at her. "I'm Lyra."
The day Isabel left
Last day of second year. I had just turned thirteen in April. Over the course of the last two years, Izzy had definitely become my best friend. We both have grown up with muggles and wizards. We both sing together. She understands me and I understand her.
But this one day changed everything. I skipped towards my dorm room, to see the blonde girl that so quickly became my closest friend. Only, I found all of her stuff gone from the room, including herself. I found her leaving the Slytherin common room.
"Iz!" I sprinted towards here and she turned, a sad smile on her face.
"Hey, Ly.."
"Are you going somewhere?" Dread slowly seeped into my voice.
"Disowned. I'm sorry, Ly."
And she did sound terribly sorry. But that wasn't enough for me.
"So you're just going to leave? Just like that?"
"Ly! I don't want to. But, when my sister came to the school, she obviously told our parents I wasn't Ravenclaw like I said."
I thought back to when I met her. Isabel had gone to a witchcraft school in France, I couldn't recall the name, her parents had let her go to Hogwarts under the condition that she make it to Ravenclaw. So, initially, when she was put in Slytherin, she lied to them. But, of course her sister had told them. And they said it was okay. It was all an act. The warning before the storm. She was disowned. My only friend was leaving. And the worst part was that there was nothing at all I could do.
I hugged her and watched as her figure disappeared from my view. "Goodbye, Isabel Fortescue."
Present time
I can't make them proud, Belle. I'll be the best Ravenclaw I can, for you, but I'll never truly be one. I'm a Slytherin.
