The light forced itself through my eyelids, shredding the lovely darkness and filling my eyes with a painfully bright light beam. I pushed forwards, onto my hands and knees, blinking rapidly as I examined where I was. The hospital wing. Hospital.. hospital. The events from the afternoon come flooding back to me, unwelcome memories exploding through the barrier of my mind. I cried out in pain, as I fell back down, sprawling onto my back. As if she were stationed directly outside the door, Madame Pomfrey hurried into the room.

"Poppy." I grimaced in pain as she hurried forwards.

Her face tightened into an expression of annoyance. "You cannot call me that, Miss Dale." She forcibly pushed me back onto the bed, shoving a couple pills and glass of water into my outstretched hands. "Get some rest, you're excused from the rest of your classes today." I heard her tsk tsk as she grabbed a woolly blanket from an unused bed and spread it across mine. "Miss Evans found you and brought you here." I smiled, despite myself. 'Trust Lily to bring me here.'

I carelessly strode past a group of confused first years, and sent a face of stone towards the small red haired boy whom asked me a question I took as one of no real importance. I flipped off the seventh year girl who had sent me a glare. I heard the voice of Severus Snape snickering behind me and I quickly turned, jinxing him into silence. A smirk spread across my face and I mock waved sweetly.

My eyes had only briefly shut, before I heard the clicking of my sister's heels. Her face was only a few feet away from me when my eyes opened.

"What have you done now, you bloody klutz." Her blonde hair was tied back in a tight ponytail and the blue of her eyes were shining brighter than ever.

"Not me." My words came out quieter than I would've liked and my eyes closed again. After a few moments of silence, I spoke up again. "Gem?" I felt the bed shift underneath me and knew that she must've sat down.

I quickly opened my eyes to see if she had understood the meaning of my words. She had. A thoughtful look was painted across her face. She spoke quietly, but I heard it just as well as if she had yelled it. "The marauders."

A/N:

Okay, I don't know if they were called marauders in their third year, since they got their nicknames in fifth but that's all I had so..
