In December of 2003, Carlos Marín was the last member of the pop-opera quartet Il Divo, to sign on to the project. The project was the idea of Simon Cowell, who worked with the group for many years after their initial signing to SYCO Music.

The quartet consists of David Miller, an American operatic tenor, Urs Bühler, a Swiss tenor, Sebastien Izambard, French pop melodic tenor, and of course, Carlos Marín, a Spanish operatic baritone

Il Divo released many albums, but their first was a self-titled CD in 2004, which currently has 75,720,110 streams on Spotify alone. They had other albums as well, such as Ancora, The Christmas Collection, Siempre, The Promise, Wicked Game, A Musical Affair, Amor y Passion, Timeless and For Once In My Life. They had many successful singles as well, including the official 2006 FIFA World Cup song, The Time Of Our Lives featuring Toni Braxton and Sortilegio De Amor.

Their concerts were often recorded and made into DVD's, like An Evening With Il Divo: Live in Barcelona, Wicked Game Live In London, Live At The Greek, Encore, At The Coliseum, and Live In Japan.

The quartet has appeared on several television programs such as Wheel of Fortune, Sortilegio, American Idol, Dancing With The Stars, The Young and The Restless, The Martha Stewart Show, The Talk, Lorraine, Loose Women, Strictly Come Dancing, America's Got Talent, The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Live With Regis and Kelly, The X Factor, The View and multiple others. Having had such success on TV, and in the studio, Il Divo toured the United States and Canada in 2006, with the one and only Barbra Streisand. They sang with Barbra as well as alone on the stage, introducing North America to their  sound.

This was just the beginning of their countless world tours, appearances and performances that fans worldwide of many ages came to love.

Il Divo always dreamed to collaborate with artists like Tina Turner, Lady Gaga, Adele, Pink, Frank Sinatra, Tom Jones and countless others, but unfortunately never got the chance. Who's to say, though, that the remaining three members won't at least try to make this goal a reality.

The group did collaborate with many artists already, including Lea Salonga, Celine Dion, Toni Braxton, Heather Headley, and many others.

The last studio album that Il Divo recorded with Carlos Marín was, For Once In My Life: A Celebration of Motown. It is said though, that before his passing, Marín had many projects completed and ready to be shared with the world. It's still in question as to what these projects entail, but whatever it is, fans will accept it with open arms.

When Marín passed away, the group shared this statement on their official Instagram page.

And more photos of Marín with the members of Il Divo, Sarah Joy Miller (Operatic soprano singer and David Miller's wife), Geraldine Larrosa (Operatic soprano singer, and Carlos Marín's ex-wife), and Simon Cowell. Cowell revealed in an interview that he offered to send a private jet to the hospital in England that Marín was in so he could be transported to Spain for better care; he was already too far gone though to make the trip.
