Marín was extremely successful with Il Divo, but during his career with the quartet, he released two solo studio albums and toured in Japan.
His first solo CD since Il Divo was called Carlos Marín: En Concierto that was released in 2016, and he debuted it in Madrid, Spain with four concerts in the Compac Gran Via Theatre. He continued with concerts in Mexico, and then went on to have a small world tour with shows in the United States, Mexico, South America and Japan.
In 2020 he released another solo album, called Portrait. It includes covers of some of the most popular songs in music history like Careless Whisper and Bohemian Rhapsody.
Although he was known and appreciated worldwide, Japan showed their profound love for Carlos Marín over the years.
