Albert
I stared out the window as I sipped a glass of sparkling cherry juice. A clean alternative to drinking red wine. As a Christian, I know better than to drink an alcoholic beverage and get drunk. My heart is set on serving God, not the world.
The world is just so cruel. I just do not want my two younger adoptive brothers, William James and Louis James to follow the ways of Satan. I want to protect them, not let any harm happen to them. Not even after our parents' death.
"How did your parents die?" People would ask us nonstop! But my response would always be "They just got gravely ill and died while in slumber." Which is true, in a sense. Giving away the gruesome truth about them dying in a fire.... is too much for me to bear. It has been years since their death. However, I know that my younger brother, Louis, takes the grief of loosing our parents a lot harder. I mean, he was only a baby; I think 5 years of age, when our parents died.
I feel young, gentle and strong arms wrap around my waist. I knew that it was none other than my brother, Louis.
"Hey, Louis. You need something? Or, are you just going to stay there, hugging me from behind?" Louis has been pretty clingy to us (mainly with William) since the death. It is not unusual to us, but it is to strangers.
"I just want to hug someone..." Louis whispers, hiding his face in the crook of my neck. For a second, I froze. But, then I just sighed, knowing my brother all too well to refuse.
