It had been nearly a week since the incident. Can had just been cleared of all suspicion. Although he had been momentarily considered a person of interest in the blondes death, the cameras in the gym, lounge and entrances had all recorded his movements to the minute. He had never entered and elevator to ascend to the floor where they had booked their hotel, he had never accessed a stairwell, he had remained where he said he had been and the police had nothing to keep him on. Suspicion might still surround him but there was nothing that could incriminate him. However, if somehow it could be proven that he paid someone to do it, then that might be a different story. Yusuf knew plenty of people that would take a fall if enough money were laid out. They could be transferred to other prisons and eventually broken out later. He had plenty of money, plenty of resources and plenty of debts owed. He picked up the phone then to make a call but the door to his office burst open just as he began to place the call. "What the hell is the meaning of this?. How dare you come to my office without out being summoned. Turn around and get out. Now!" The man who stood there staring didn't move for a few moments but when he did it was to turn and close the door and lock it. He turned back to Yusef and walked toward his desk and took one of the chairs directly in front of the older man. "Yusef Bay....perhaps you have forgotten our agreement but I can assure you that I have not. I was not aware that Can Bays wife was the daughter of Enzo Fabri. I believe you neglected to share that but of information with me. Had you done so, I would have declined this job". The man stared at Yosef with dead eyes and the gangster stilled for a moment reassessing the situation quickly. He was not a man to make mistakes but perhaps he had miscalculated this time. "What of it. Fabri has no real pull in Istanbul. Everything still goes through me and you are all too aware of that". His tone was cold and decisive and it should have unnerved the younger man but it didn't seem to cause any response in the killers gaze. "I am aware of the situation and arrangements in Istanbul and yet there is no denying that Fabri has connections everywhere and his hands are in all things. He has stayed away because it has been his desire to do so." Yosef laughed out loud at this. His hand rested on the gun across his lap. "You really believe that anything that Italian pig does here is without my consent or knowledge. I expected more from you Faruk. I paid you for a job and you did it and now we are done. Close the door on your way out". Faruk didn't move but instead reached up across his chest but before he put his hand under it he gestured to Yosef "I'm reaching for my phone. If I had wanted you dead there would have been no need for me to have stepped foot in your office. May I!" He said as he inclined his head. Yosef glared at the man and nodded his head. Faruk slid his hand into the pocket of his jacket and retrieved a phone. It was burner phone, untraceable and basic. "Yosef Bay I believe all will be made clear with this". He set the phone down on the desk and hit the play button for the one audio recording on the phone:
"Mr. Yosef, It has come to my attention that my affairs may be jeopardized by a personal matter that you have been entertaining. When my associates and I agreed to do business with you it was because we understood that you were effective and unencumbered by any familial or organizational ties. That you were free of blood feuds. It appears now that we were misinformed. There is a high degree of chatter among the officials at the port and within the high command of the authorities that have caused us great concern. Mr. Faruk has been given certain instructions that must be carried out with your assistance. Our delivery is proceeding as scheduled however you will insure that all transactions are handled with care and efficiency. There are to be no delays or mishaps. As for your "personal matters" you will refrain from any activity that brings any more focus on you, your business or your employees. I need not remind you who you are dealing with. You will follow the instruction that Mr. Faruk will provide to the letter. There is nothing further but to say that we look forward to doing business with you again. In fact my associates and I all agree that we will continue our association with you for a reduced rate at 50% beginning immediately and moving forward. Make no mistake, this is not up for negotiation. This is to take effect immediately. Do not be concerned with the financials. You will receive them, at the new rate, as discussed. Do not let us down."
