Our Promise ~ 2yeon

I was sitting in my final class of the week, staring at the clock and waiting for it to end. I wanted to be free from the hell that is school. Afterwards, I would go to the café a 5 minute walk from campus and study for my upcoming tests.

At 3:27 I began to pack away my pencil case and notebooks and saved my online work. Next to me was my friend Momo who nudged me and asked if I was still up for going to the cafe.

The end of class came and I rushed out the door with Momo to meet our friends Sana and Jihyo and go to the cafe.

It was a nice day, the sun was shining and it was warm with a slight breeze. I slipped my hoody over my shoulders and we set off on our way. I texted my roommate Irene to let her know I'd be home late and put my phone in my pocket.

At the café, we found a table for 4 near the window and looked at the menu to decide what to order.

There was one girl who looked around my age that worked there. As I was a frequent visitor, we have spoken a few times but haven't shared much more than our names and how our days had been.

"Aaa Nayeon and co. Nice to see you here again." She said to me as she mysteriously appeared behind me.

"Hey Jeongyeon nice to see you again too." I replied.

I came here with the girls to study around once every few weeks however on Thursdays I would always come here after school as my roommate worked later hours and I had nothing else to do.

I would often come here on a Sunday too just to kill some free time and get out. Recently, me and Jeongyeon have started talking more and more but we weren't particularly close.

We ordered cakes and drinks and studied for around an hour when Sana told us she had somewhere to be and had to leave.

"Date with that Dahyun girl again?" Momo asked and Sana gave a shy smile indicating she was correct.

"Have fun but don't get too wild" Jihyo told her.

Eventually, Momo and Jihyo left too but I stayed to work on my website. I'm not sure how long I was there alone for but all of a sudden, Jeongyeon came over to me. The place was nearly empty and I looked over at the clock on my laptop to see it was 5:30 already.

"Nayeon, your friends left why are you still here?" She asked me.

"Oh just to work on my photography website that's all."

"Can I see?" She asked and I could tell she was curious about what I did for a living.

I showed her my website and told her what I did and everything else about my job as a photographer.

I didn't realise, but she had sat down next to me and was looking intently, showing great interest. Eventually, she had to get back to working but promised to come over when it emptied.

She came over and we spoke for around half an hour about our dreams and ambitions as well as simple things like how out week had been.

When it was time for me to leave, I pulled out the money Momo, Sana and Jihyo left to pay for their food as well as my own and asked for the bill.

Jeongyeon came to me with the bill and on the tray was a small note as well as the usual peppermints she leaves for me.

I shoved the note in my pocket and headed on my way home.
