It had been a few days of me living with my mum. I had only fainted once since I had been back but I was still really weak.
"Nayeon. I know you won't be happy but your dad comes home today." My mum said to me one day.
"What? Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
"We'll he doesn't know you're here... or that you fainted again."
"Oh no." I muttered.
"What's wrong baby?" Jeongyeon asked me, hugging me from behind.
"My dad is coming home today."
"Oh-" she began. She was cut off by the thing I dreaded most. The door opened and in walked my dad.
"Oh so my daughter is in my house without my permission and is gay?" He says, his voice rising with anger.
"Honey I can explain." My mum began, trying to save me.
"No you won't. She will" he spat out, pointing at me.
"Um dad. So this is my girlfriend Jeongyeon and she got hurt and Um I fainted and so-"
"YOU WHAT?" He roared. "ITS BEEN 3 YEARS AND YOU LET IT ALL GO DOWN THE DRAIN LIKE THIS?"
"Dad please don't be mad" I said, choking on my tears.
"Get out of my house. NOW".
I stumbled up and ran out the door, tears streaming down my face. I ran to the nearest bench, exhausted with tears streaming down my face.
My mum came after me with Jeongyeon under her arm and my bag of stuff in the other hand.
They sat on either side of me and hugged me.
"Don't cry" Jeongyeon said to me in one ear.
"It'll be ok" my mum said in the other.
"Why does dad hate me so much mum?" I asked, nearly choking on tears, struggling to get the words out.
"I don't know darling, I truly don't. I've tried to get it out of him before but he won't budge."
I cried even more- he couldn't even give a good reason to despise me so much.
"But I still love you, and I always will." My mum said comfortingly.
"And me!" Jeongyeon piped up causing my mum to giggle.
I too giggles through the tears and gave them both a hug.
"Come on. Let's get you home shall we?" My mum said to me.
We got on the bus and made our way to my place where we were met by Irene at the front door ready to meet me. She had tidied my room and changed my sheets for me. How kind.
"Nayeon!" She said excited to see me after the few days we had gone without seeing each other. She embraced me in a warm hug and apologised for what had happened.
"No need to apologise. It's not your fault my dad is so horrible." I muttered, wiping away the tears welling up in my eyes once again.
~~
"Jeongyeon, Cheon, do you both want to stay here for a while? I know Jeongyeon you're still injured." Irene asked over dinner.
"If it's not too much of a bother for you both." Jeongyeon replied as my mum returned with a nod and she said, "If it's ok with you, I don't want to be a burden."
"Ah it's no worries. I can set up the spare room for you Cheon, Jeongyeon you could sleep with Nayeon or I could figure something else out for you?"
"I'll sleep with Nayeon." Jeongyeon replied, smirking.
I was unpacking my bag when I noticed one of my medicines was missing.
"Mum", I shouted, "I've messed up. One of my medications isn't here."
"It should be there somewhere" she muttered, "if not, I'll go back and get it."
"No. Please. It's ok." I replied. I didn't want my mum to have to face my dad so soon. Who knows what he'd do.
"Nayeon, I know you're worried. This is important ok? You know what happens if you don't take them all."
~~
Nighttime came and my mum had gotten my medicine from her house.
That night, I went to sleep early and not long after I laid down, I felt Jeongyeon wrap her arms around me.
"Nighty night baby bear." She said to me.
"I'm older than you silly." I replied
"Would you rather be called grandpa bear?"
