I'm baaaaack!! I'm so sorry for such a long wait! Here's the next part!!

Inej's POV

Inej really does love Jesper, though at times she really wants to strangle him, she does love him for what it's worth. He's like an older brother to her, or maybe it's the other way around? Well, it doesn't matter which way it is, Inej loves Jesper like a brother and would do anything to protect him.

But right now, on the roof on the school, standing above the ventilation system that this entire plan relied on, the ventilation system in which the fan is suppose to be switched off by the one and only, Jesper Fahey.

Oh god. Inej was doomed, and so was the rest of her crew. How was she supposed to get through? The ventilation fan was a huge fan with sharp blades. The blades scrape around the box, which means there's no small opening for Inej to slip through. The box wasn't that tall, but it was wide. If only I had a stick or something. Dropping the stick into the fan would jam the fan, stopping it's rotation, allowing Inej to slip through the blades.

Still staring at the fan, cursing Jesper in her head, Inej heard the soft tapping of a stick. She walks over to the edge of the roof and sees Kaz at the bottom. He quirks his eyebrow in a questioning look, and Inej slides down the building.

"What's going on? Jesper might get killed!" Kaz whispers.

"Yeah? Well he's gonna get me killed since he didn't turn off the fan!" Inej whisper-yells back.

"You need a stick," Kaz says and Inej nods.

Kaz lets out a quiet, yet angry, sigh. He looks at the roof, then at her, then at his cane. Looks back at the roof once more, closes his eyes, and turns to Inej. He hands her his cane, and walks away with a visible limp.

Inej looks at her hand, which now holds the infamous cane. Flabbergasted, Inej doesn't waste time and scales the wall once again.

Getting to the top, Inej rushes towards the ventilation box, and drops the stick in. Just as expected, the fan gets jammed and Inej slips through the blades, entering the ventilation system.

Phase one, done.

......

Jesper's POV

Shit. Shit. Shit.

Now what? If anyone walked through that door, Jesper will be dead in under two seconds. Oh Inej's sweet, sweet saints, please save me.

Hiding under Rollins' desk, Jesper prayed to every god that he could think of. Did he believe in god? No, and yet here he was, naming every god that he's heard from Inej and Matthais, hoping one of them would save him.

He promised Wylan he wouldn't die, and he knows that he won't, at least not without putting up a fight. Fuck I didn't even say goodbye. After leaving Wylan left him in the alleyway, Jesper didn't go after him, knowing that Wylan needed some time alone, but he should've at least said bye. Horrible ass boyfriend. Woah boyfriend? Shit it almost sounds too good to be true.

No. Right now was not the time to think about that. If he really wanted to be Wylan's boyfriend, he would have to save his ass from this mess and actually be able to get back to Wylan. Jesper needed to start thinking.

Jesper took a second to listen to the noise outside. It sounded like it was at least 20 feet away, which meant he had thirty seconds to come up with a solution, a minute max. The cabinet that held the box was unlocked, which meant that Rollins didn't care enough to put a lock on it, or he knew that no one would ever suspect an ordinary cabinet to hold a golden box. This theory did spark Jesper's curiosity, but it wasn't his biggest concern at the moment. Carefully, Jesper closed the cabinet, hoping that whoever is outside won't check the cabinet.

Now for a place to hide. As a 6'2" 190 pound guy, Jesper knew he couldn't hide under the table or inside one of the cabinets. His best friend today were the shadows in the room, thanks to the night time. Jesper picked the corner which held the most darkness, and slipped into the shadows, hoping that the wouldn't be noticed.

The door knob started to jingle and there was a soft click that echoed throughout the room. Jesper sucked in his breath, and tried not to breathe. To his bad luck, Pekka Rollins was the one to enter the classroom. Jesper thought he felt a tear run down his cheek.

This is the day I die. I die a badass criminal who had a boyfriend that he never said I love you to and never got to kiss. You died a loser. The negative talk was doing its job, because Jesper was so consumed in his own head that he almost didn't realize when Rollins walked behind his desk, picked up a set of keys and started walking back towards the door. Rollins stopped at the door for 2 seconds, perked his ears up and started looking around. Noticing nothing unusual, Rollins walked out of the class, a soft click following after him.

Thanking Inej's saints, Jesper wastes no time popping open the nearest wind, jumping out of it, shutting it behind him and running into the woods and towards the Crow Club.

Start counting your lucky days Fahey, it's only going to get harder from here.

Inej's POV

Two rights, left, right. Two rights, left, right.

Inej had been repeating the sequence of turns she had to take since she entered the ventilation systems. She wasn't able to study the map of pipes before starting the mission, so if she forgot the directions, she would be lost for good.

The mission was giving her an adrenaline rush, since this was her first mission in a very long time that she would be doing alone. Ever since entering high school, Kaz had stopped most of his schemes, so getting a mission, let a long a solo mission, was rear.

There was a pit in her stomach that was growing bigger by the minute. Inej was a strong, independent girl, who didn't need anyone's support, not mentally, not physically, and definitely not emotionally. But she had gotten used to having her friends around her constantly. This solo mission might've been exactly what she needs, but it doesn't mean she doesn't miss her friends.

And a right. Got it. Inej remembered the turns perfectly and dropped down exactly at the janitors closet. The janitor's closet at the back exit was one that no one really knew anything of, and some people didn't even know it existed, at all. The vault was jutting out of the walls like a sore thumb. They didn't even try to hide it.

But why? Why would you ever put a vault and plain sight? And how did Kaz know? So many questions but so little answers. Not wasting any more time, Inej pulled out Kaz's lock picking kit and got to work. She poked and prodded at the vault locked, listening to a certain number of clicks, until the lock finally gave way.

Inside the vault sat a small pouch. Inej picked it up and shook it a little, to make sure there was actually something in there at all. Confirming that the contents were still in the bag, Inej pocketed the pouch, locked up the vault, and jumped through the nearest window and took off for the crow club.

Easiest shit ever. I guess I'm just too good.

Inej may have celebrated a little too early, as she didn't realize that the silent alarm had already gone off. Saints help them.

......
