The very tough Operations Manager has had to endure a lot of terrible things throughout her life, including having to witness several of her friends either be tortured or killed.

But what she was having to witness today, was absolutely the worst!

'You sure we couldn't have sent Deeks on this mission?' Eric asked.

'He's too young. The mission clearly called for an older person. And (sighs), the person who qualified was Owen.' Hetty replied.

Hetty loved him dearly, but his attempts at actual humor that isn't dark? Absolutely dreadful!

Bad pun after bad pun, trite joke after trite joke...

'Wow. He is terrible! What do you do when he tries to crack a joke at home?' Eric asked.

'I politely laugh. And before you think of something silly like 'Hetty Lange doing stuff to be polite?!', I'll have you know, I've done a lot of uncomfortable things just to be polite because I had to!' Hetty replied, no-nonsensely.

'Yeah, but he's your husband. I think honesty counts, even when you're both ex spies.'

He had a good point, oh dear, this was going to be an awkward conversation.

That night, Hetty's office

'Be honest, how good was I on that mission?' Granger asked.

'Okay. Your humor is terrible, I only laugh at your bad jokes to be polite, and having to witness you trying to be a comedian was as fun as seeing someone you care about get their teeth pulled without drugs!' Hetty bluntly replied.

Granger was pretty shook, not by her words on his humor, but by her 'trying to be polite' admission.

'You? Trying to be polite with your own husband? Since when have you gone so soft?' He asked, smirking.

'I don't know! Maybe having to do a lot of things over the years because 'it's polite' rubbed off on me.'

'Well, I appreciate your blunt honesty, don't be afraid to show it. Also, I am well aware of how bad my humor is.'

'Thank you dear.' Then they shared a warm hug.

'Not to sound weird, but how good was my joke about the monkey walking into the hotel?'

(Slight groan). 'Please don't ruin the moment.'
