Masquerade Party

Today is the party where I'm supposed to be meeting my potential partners. I don't know who chose the theme of masquerade because it seems too cliché for me.

Karina is getting me dressed right now. She actually became a part of the group too. Chaeryeong and Yuna had a lot of questions for her about the rogue knights, in hopes to find Yuna's sister but no luck in that department.

I kinda stopped searching for my mystery kisser since I can't really do much to look for them and Chaeryeong is more focus on finding her friend than my kisser, the audacity of her.

"Are you looking for men or women?" Karina ask while she does my make up.

"Doesn't matter. I look for a connection but I don't know how I need to see their face to connect, hence, why this party is stupid" I say.

"You could have your first real relationship by tonight. You should be excited. The next future King or Queen will be in the same room as you" Karina tries to make think positive of the situation.

"I don't think it's gonna be fun. You're gonna be busy, Lia is gonna be busy, Yuna and Chaeryeong have to do their jobs as guards so I'll be by myself" I pout.

"It's not a hang out with your friends. It's for you to find your partner" Karina chuckles.

"And you're ready" Karina stands back to admire her work.

"Time to put on your mask" She tells me.

She places double sided table on the mask so it sticks to my face.

"You're ready to go, Princess" She tells me.

"Thank you" I say as I stand up.

"Wish me luck" I walk out the door where Lia is waiting for me.

She guides me to the hall where the party is held. I should be excited but for some reason I'm not. I really don't like that mask idea.

I make my grand entrance after my father announces my arrival. Everyone claps and compliments me. I fake a smile at everyone and wave.

"Enjoy the party" my dad whispers before leaving me all by myself.

I walk around to try to mingle but I don't know even know how. I feel like it's awkward to start a natural conversation with someone when I know their pure intention is to be partnered with me.

"Hello, Princess Yeji" someone blocks my path.

"You are?" I ask.

"Prince Yeonjun, at your service" he smiles. I've heard about him. He lives in one of the neighboring kingdom.

"Oh, hi" I awkwardly say.

There's an uncomfortable silence between us now. "This is weird huh? Not seeing each other's face. No one even knows what Princess Yeji looks like" he randomly laughs.

"What's funny?" I ask.

"When we got invited to this thing, we thought we would be able to see your face so a lot of us were disappointed when we found out the theme" he explains.

"I still don't get how that's funny?" I slowly say.

"I guess my flirting isn't working" he says now.

"Flirting? That's flirting? You didn't even do a sexy pose or anything? Or use a sexy voice?" I question him.

He should watch more movies to see how flirting is done. I don't have it mastered yet but I feel like I have a better understanding than he does.

"Do you want me to pose?" He ask.

"Forget it. It won't be natural anymore because I'll expect it" I say.
