Code 011 | Darling in the Franxx

Plantation 13

Akio POV

I don't remember how I ended up in this situation...but I need to stop following Zero Two.

Right now I'm sitting in plantation 13's mess hall, naturally, all eyes were on us mainly Zero Two. I guess I can't blame them too much though, it's not exactly normal for a person to drown their breakfast in syrup. I felt a small bead of sweat roll down my face as I watched her eat with her hands. 'She can really be a child sometimes can't she...' I could hear the kids talking about us but I paid no attention to it or at least I tried to. "In case you forgot, no person has horns." That had struck a nerve

"Oi pigtails if your gonna talk bad about someone then don't talk at all." I saw the redhead jump at my sudden statement. I could tell she was embarrassed that I had called her out in front of everyone in her squad. The blue-haired girl that was next to her nudged her and she sat back down, I could hear one of the boys snickering when she did.

I felt Zero Two nudge me with her elbow, when I looked at her she had a cocky smirk on her face. "I know what your thinking, and no I'm not" 

"Uh-huh. Keep telling yourself that." She had always had a habit of telling me I'm 'protective' of her, it's not my fault she's always getting into trouble.

I sighed and looked at the floor, I heard one of the chairs pull out and I could hear someone walking over to us. When I looked up I realized it was the same kid that was asking me questions the other day. "Hey there. I wanted to say watching you fight was a treat, and if you like you can always have Zorome the great ride with you." 

'He's quite smug isn't he.' 

"Someone of your skill deserves much better than having that wuss in a FRANXX." 'He's gonna regret saying that...I almost feel bad for him.' 

"So what do you say that I come over and-"

While he was talking Zero Two started to rub the syrup on her hands in his uniform, it was kinda funny to see him throw a fit though. I chuckled a bit and he seemed to remember I was there. "Aren't you gonna do something! Look what she did!" 

"I see what she did, I just don't care. And if she doesn't listen to orders what makes you think she'll listen to me?" He stood there completely shocked before he grabbed a napkin and started to wipe the syrup off.

My entertainment was interrupted when Nana walked through the door. She announced that she was the plantation's new caretaker. 'Does that mean they didn't have one until now?' When she noticed me she spoke. "Oh and 011, your partner just arrived, so has the cargo ship with your FRANXX."

I couldn't help but smile when I heard that. When she finished speaking the blue-haired girl asked a question. "Are they going to be staying here?" Nana smiled before turning to me. "From now on Code 011 and Code 035 are official members of squad 13." That had actually caught me by surprise. "HQ thought it would be a good idea if you guys had some experienced members in your squad." 'So that's why they went through the trouble of bringing me here.'

"Now want you all to head to your lockers and suit up, 011 since you have field experience you'll be the one leading this exercise." I nodded in response. "Alright, then I'll see you once you finished."

After she said that everyone started to clear out and head to the lockers. While we were suiting up I couldn't help but grow irritated at how snobby Zorome was being. "Do you ever shut up? I'm pretty sure nobody wants to hear your snobby comments. It's obvious you're jealous of Hiro, do us a favor and accept he was able to pilot a FRANXX before you. Your embarrassing yourself." After that, he stopped talking and looked completely shocked. I had walked passed him as if nothing happened so I could get the rest of my gear on.
