chapter six- hospital

i had finally arrived at the OSF hospital. it wasn't too crowded. i headed to the front desk.
"hey- um, i'd like to see a doctor," i said to the receptionist.
"of course, you might have to wait a while though, you can take a seat over there. but before that, you'll have to give me some details,"
i told them my name, age, date of birth and stuff, then took a seat. i waited very patiently until my name was called. or, tried to.

well, before i knew it, my name was called. i got up and headed to a consultation room.

"so, y/n l/n, right? what seems to be your issue?" the doctor said. the doctor seemed quite friendly.
"oh, so... i've been getting some really bad headaches recently. it started getting really bad yesterday, and i had more that day. the pain is really hard to deal with, but i took some painkillers that should've helped," i explained.
"i see," the doctor paused.
"you are a part of the OSF, right? are you a new recruit?"
"yeah, i am."
"what's your power?"
i explained my morphekinesis to the doctor, the ability to create 3d objects out of thin air, and manipulate them for a short amount of time.
"hmm..." the doctor said, "it might be because you're straining your brain. additionally, you only recently joined the OSF, so your brain might not be used to large amounts of work. do you use a weapon with your power?"
"no, i don't use a weapon. i just use my power to make the weapons," i responded.
"i think it might be a good idea to switch to a weapon to reduce the strain you're putting on your brain,"
"what kind of weapon would i use?"
    "hmm, considering your power, it might be good to have a staff or a sceptre that allows you to channel your power into something, and use that to create without straining your mind. i have a prototype of something like that accessible, but it's still unstable. would you like to try it?"
i paused.
how unstable was it? it can't be that bad, and if i used it, i could speed up the development of it, therefore helping others who needed it as well. but was i willing to put myself at risk for it
    "ok, i'll do it," i replied.

the doctor walked out, and when they came back, they were holding a long box. then they opened it. inside it was my staff. it had a long, smooth handle, and at one end it had a shiny sphere, which was firmly attached to the rest of the staff.

"here it is. all you need to do is activate this plugin to connect the staff to you."

i added the required plug in and i felt a surge of power.

"you'll be able to store some of your power in the sphere, so when you need extra support when making large objects, you'll have it."

i thanked the doctor and left the hospital, wearing my new staff on my back with a strap. then, i got a brain message from shiden.

hey, are you done at the OSF hospital? come meet me back at the hideout if you are.

i smiled, and sent a reply.

oh yeah, i'm done, i'm heading back right now!  see you there :)

soon, i arrived at the hideout. i found shiden waiting for me.
    "so, you finally decided to get here," he said,  "how did it go? are you alright?"
    "i'm okay. the doctor said my brain was just under a lot of stress. i got a cool new weapon to help though!" i pulled out my staff and planted one end on the ground, "cool, isn't it?"
he looked at it closely.
    "what are you going to do with that?? smack the others and hope they die?" shiden said, sounding unimpressed.
    "don't be stupid. i don't use this to smack them!! i can store energy in it, so when i'm making large objects my brain gets less stressed!"
    "hmm... that could work,"
    "anyways, what did i miss while i was gone?"
    "nothing much. we did a training exercise with seto platoon."
"oh, seto platoon... were yuito and nagi there?"
"yes, they were."
shiden looked like he was about to say something else, but we got interrupted by haruka.
"shiden, y/n, you have deployment orders. a large group of others have been sighted. the location is an abandoned subway, i need you to head over there right away.
"i'm going, are you coming with me?" shiden asked.
"okay, let's go!"
