chapter one- the first meeting

today was the day. my SAS induction. the struggle arms system. i would be connected. i would become a part of the OSF soon. it was all... so overwhelming. it was all happening so fast.

"the virtual brain link cable will now be connected"
"this'll hurt much more than it did in training- be strong."

i braced myself for the incoming pain.

"systems all green- beginning SAS connection"

one by one the cables appeared behind each of the lined up cadets. eventually, it was my turn. i bent my knees and tried to stand as sturdily as i could. the cables went in. my head hurt so bad. it was only the head for a second. then it was my whole body. i couldn't handle the pain. my legs gave way and i fell to the floor. but i stayed strong. i kept my eyes open, and tried getting up. soon, the pain eased.
"good, seems like you're okay"
"this aptitude test will determine your platoon assignment"
"do your best!"

the test was fairly easy for me. i took out the others in the simulation quickly, using my psionic power: morphekinesis.
my power allows me to create 3d objects that i can control and change at any time. i made some saw-like circular blades to throw and manipulate to attack enemies.
once i was done, the vision faded away and i was back where i was standing at the start.

"okay, that ends your training. you're an offical member of the OSF from tomorrow. cadets now have 24 hours of free time. make sure yo get some rest before tomorrow."

i quickly walked out of the facility, into suoh. god- that was a rush! it was exciting that i'd be an official member soon. i couldn't wait!
i recognised some familiar faces a bit further ahead. was that... yuito and nagi?
i'd known those guys for a couple of years. they were kind of my friends.
"yuito! nagi! over here!"
nagi turned around, and noticed me.
    "yuito look! it's y/n! let's go say hi!"
yuito also turned, and saw me. he smiled and came over to me with nagi.
    "hey y/n! isn't it cool that we'll be part of the OSF soon?" he said to me.
    "yeah! i'm really excited," i replied.
    "i hope we're all on the same platoon!!" nagi exclaimed. he was always really enthusiastic about everything.
    "me and nagi are gonna go to sumeragi tomb, wanna come with us?" asked yuito.
    "oh, im alright- i'll just explore the city and stuff, you guys can go without me," i answered.
    "okay y/n! byebye-" nagi waved goodbye and walked away with yuito. i walked on to further explore the city.

i was checking out some stores when it happened. there was an other alert. right here. right now. i watched everyone scramble to get to the shelters, then joined in. the official OSF members were being deployed, and i shouldn't get in their way.
i was still running when a vase paws jumped in front of me. i used my power to make my saw blades, and started attacking the enemy. soon, it disappeared with a flurry of red petals. however, this one interruption held me back a lot. before i knew it, i was surrounded by them.
    "fuck... will i be able to fight them off?"
i was still technically a cadet after all. the vase paws were closing in. i had no idea what to do.
then someone jumped in. it was someone from the OSF... he was a tall guy with wavy yellowish-green hair, and cute glasses. he used his electrokinesis to fight them off.
    "i'll take this side, you take this side- GO" he ordered.
back to back, we fought off the others. soon, we were in a storm of red petals.
    "who are you?" i asked. i wanted to know who this was.
     "why does it matter?" he scoffed, and walked away, while i just stood there. after walking a little longer, he stopped and turned around. "why are you still standing there? head to the shelter. what- do you want me to carry you to the shelter or something?" he narrowed his eyes. i snapped out of my momentary trance.
    "oh- um- yeah of course, i'll go to the shelter. thank you, umm..."
    "shiden. i'm shiden ritter."
    "okay! thanks shiden"
he walked away. not even a "you're welcome"?
jeez, what's up with this guy, i thought.
