shiden and i had just arrived at the hideout, where kyoka, kasane and gemma was waiting, along with captain seto and kagero. according to kyoka, she and kasane had helped them when kagero sent out a distress signal.
"oh hello! y/n and shiden, come join us!"
i took a seat on one of the seats.
"now we should just be waiting on naomi," kasane said.

"it's naomi randall, i'm coming in," naomi said as she walked in.
"thank you for coming all this way" kyoka thanked naomi.
"sorry you had to go shopping because i got hurt," seto apologised.
"don't worry about it, this unit hasn't been used in a long time, so it's out of a lot of things," naomi added, "i apologise for the inconvenience."
"there's nothing for you to apologise about," seto said with a smile.
"that's right, we're the ones who just barged in here," kyoka said.
"thanks sis," kasane said to naomi.
"don't mention it, i'm so happy you trusted me with this!" naomi replied happily
"aren't you being too easy on your little sister?" shiden asked naomi.
"maybe, but she's so cute i could just eat her up!" naomi laughed.
    "naomi...-" kasane said, slightly embarrassed.
"must be nice," shiden looked a bit upset.
"oh shiden, you don't have to look so sad. i think you're cute too!"
"wh-what makes you think i was sad?" shiden quickly replied, sounding annoyed yet surprised. i laughed.
"hey! what are YOU laughing at!?" he snapped, resulting in me just laughing harder.
"i'm glad you're getting along with your new platoon so well, shiden!!" captain seto grinned, "hey, i know you requested to transfer to my team. i'm sorry we couldn't take you..."
"captain seto-" shiden started.
you can transfer platoons? i don't really want to, but it's nice knowing that it's an option.

a couple hours later, everyone was off in the hideout doing their own thing. i was sitting on a couch and reading a (vision) book. a lot had happened during the past few days. it was all a lot to take in.
then it happened.
i was having another splitting headache. i had been getting them quite a bit recently, and had no idea why. i put my book away and closed my eyes. then the pain got really bad. i clutched my head and bent forward. i felt like i was going to pass out.
"hey, you okay? you look like you're about to throw up, i'd really prefer if you didn't," a voice said, cutting through the silence.
i looked up. it was shiden.
"shiden... i'm ok. don't worry about me," i said weakly, attempting to smile.
"hey, who said i was worried!? i'm just- um-" he fell silent, unable to think of the right word. then he looked me in the eyes.
"listen, i know you're lying, i can tell that you're in pain. just tell me where it hurts."
"..."
"it's my head, it's just a small headache, i'm fine.'
"are you sure it's just a small one? you looked like you were in a lot of pain. i'll go get some painkillers for you, i'm sure the first aid kit must have some,"
before i could object, he took off.

"i'm back, with some medicine. take it, it should make the pain a bit better." shiden said, taking a seat next to me.
i took it, and yes, it soon made my head feel less heavy.
"how are you feeling now?" he asked.
"i'm slightly better, thanks," i replied, "just tired..."
"well, you probably should get some rest, it's getting late."
i attempted to relax, leaning back on the couch. i noticed that shiden wasn't going anywhere.
"what about you?" i asked him.
"what ABOUT me?" he replied, sounding annoyed.
"don't you need to get some rest too?"
"i'll be fine for now. i'll just stay with you for a while, to- um- make sure you're okay..." he said awkwardly.
     "are you sure?"
"yeah, whatever. i thought you were going to get some sleep?"
     "oh yeah, sorry."
he was right, i probably should rest. i closed my eyes, resting my head on the closest thing to me, which just happened to be shiden's shoulder. i felt him tense up, but after a while, he relaxed. i felt warm and safe next to him, and secretly wished this would last forever. before i knew it, i was peacefully drifting off to sleep.

"y/n... y/n!" i heard a voice calling to me.
"huh? what?" i murmured, still sleepy, "who is it?"
i tried to open my eyes, but was too tired to keep them open.
"talking pillow?" i said.
"TALKING PILLOW!? excuse me, i am NOT your pillow!! did you lose your memory or something?? it's me, shiden," shiden said, sounding annoyed.
"shi.. den? oh yeah! i remember now!" i exclaimed, finally snapping out of it.
shiden rolled his eyes.
"anyways, it's time to get up."
    "5 more minutes..."
"no, you have to get up now,"
"FINE," i sat up straight and rubbed my eyes, trying to wake myself up.
"how are you feeling? your head, i mean," shiden asked.
"it feels a lot better now, thanks for helping me out," i smiled.
"it's okay..." he said, looking flustered. then his tone sharpened.
"i wasn't doing it for just YOU anyways, the platoon would be at a disadvantage if it were missing a person," he avoided eye contact.
i laughed.
"what are you laughing at!?"
    "nothing, nothing,"
there was silence.
"maybe you should go to the OSF hospital today and get your head checked out, your headache looked pretty bad..." shiden said, sounding concerned again.
"i'm fine, i promise," i didn't want to miss out on anything important.
"no, you should get it checked out. what if it's a symptom of a bigger problem?"
"you have a point, i guess i'll go. i just need to  tell kyoka."
"i'll tell her for you once everyone's awake, the sooner you get there, the better," shiden responded.
"fine. i'm leaving then," i called, walking towards the exit.
"good luck, don't get yourself killed on the way there."
    "i won't,"
