chapter nine- reunion! (not a happy one)

i tried navigating through the seemingly endless maze of rubble and debris. after a few minutes, i heard voices. i went around a corner, and there they were. kasane, yuito, gemma and another girl who was on yuito's platoon. i think her name was tsugumi. gemma, yuito and kasane were working to clear the rubble.

"what's going on??" i asked tsugumi.
    "nagi and naomi are behind there... they're in trouble!!" she replied frantically.
just as she said that, the other three had deconstructed the wall, revealing naomi and nagi. they were being attacked by an auger sabbat. it swung its horn, sending the pair flying.
    "naomi! naomi! are you okay??" kasane yelled, panic rising in her voice.
    "i'm okay!! i just hurt my leg a little..." naomi attempted to reply in a reassuring tone, but pain still laced her words.
    "i'm going to kill it!!" kasane was overflowing with rage.
    "hey! calm down!" yuito said.
    "i will, once i kill it! you handle things over there!!"
yuito sighed, nodded, and then turned to face me.
    "y/n, keep naomi and nagi safe, they're both injured..." 
    "alright, got it!!" i pulled out my staff.

"naomi, tell me if you see anything with your power, alright? nagi, you can rest with her if you want!"
    "no, y/n, i can help!"
    "alright then, let's do this!!"

i conjured my signature saw blades and started slashing at the others nearby. nagi made sure no others even came close to naomi with his power. everyone made quick work of the others. we were all catching our breath.

    "naomi...?" kasane called.
naomi got up slowly and smiled at her.
    "i'm okay, i'm heading to-" she stopped there. her eyes widened, and she looked pretty disturbed.
    "hey, are you oka-" i started.
    "watch out!!" naomi exclaimed, running towards kasane, who was coming in this direction.
she pushed kasane away, right before collapsing. there was a small splat of blood on her uniform.
    "what...?" kasane looked puzzled. 
naomi started to get up, then stopped halfway. something was clearly wrong. everyone turned to look at her, concerned. 
"nao...mi?"
she finally rose, her head still down. i knew something bad was going to happen.
cracks formed. then she shattered. i gasped in horror. she... transformed...
naomi was an other...

kasane fell to her knees. everyone was shocked. then it sent kasane flying back, knocking her out. 
    "kasane!!" i yelled.

the other, or should i say naomi, was attacking all of us. the entire thing was a blur, it all moved so fast. i couldnt bring myself to hurt naomi directly. i tried playing a more supportive role, shielding my friends with my power and making objects for yuito.
    "y/n watch out!!" someone yelled.
before i could say anything, i took a heavy blow. it... i mean, naomi, got me...
    "ahh.. shit!"
before i could get back up properly, i heard kasane yell.
    "what? NAOMI!" she stood in front of naomi, and blocked all the attacks. "stop, please stop!"
she then threw a piece of rubble at gemma and yuito.
    "what are you doing!?" yuito yelled at her.
    "this other is naomi!!"

that's when she got transported away. they took naomi. kasane yelled her name out again.
    "a transfer power?? you need strong abilities to move something that size..."
i saw a single osf member collapse, they were surrounded by ndf. they must be behind it.
    "hey, it's them!!" i pointed at them. they panicked and started getting ready to leave.
    "wait, where did you send naomi??" kasane yelled at the now escaping ndf. she took off after them.
    "hey, kasane! wait!!" yuito called. just then, the roof caved in, trapping us in there. yuito cursed under his breath.
    "cmon! we gotta catch up to her!" i urged. i made a battering ram, gemma activated his sclero and yuito started moving things. 

we had to hurry.
