A/n! Hi so in this story Gilbert does not go on a trip with his father like in the show. He will be there on Anne's first day of school. And yes, this book is Diana slander. If you don't Like it, read something else. I'm not changing it. Okay, well go ahead and read this book if you weren't driven away by the Diana slander. And I promise I'm actually a nice person.

I could hear the seagulls calling as I rose from my bed that day. My feet were cold as they hit the floor, sending shivers up my spine. After stripping my nightgown off my pale skin, I pulled my favorite dress up. My muscles were sore. Just yesterday me and Gilbert had wrestled all day in the schoolyard. I won.

I zipped up my green dress and tied my wavy blonde hair into a pigtail. I topped it off by adding my newly cleaned black shoes.

Mother was sitting at our white dining table with Marilla Cuthbert when I came downstairs. It was early, and I had not expected there to be anyone over. Nevertheless, I greeted her as I always did. "Good morning Miss Cuthbert." I nodded.

We had lived next to the Cuthberts since before I was born. They lived on green gables farm, and we had our small farm next to it. Marilla and Matthew had a tragical childhood, which just makes them all the more interesting. I love going to their farm. It's much bigger than ours. Often mother and I would bring over pastrys and they would talk while I played with the horse or spoke with Matthew.

"Good morning Victoria!" Marilla stood to hug me. I pulled away after a few seconds to continue getting ready for school. "I just came over today to tell you, Matthew and I have adopted a girl." I stopped in my tracks. All the girls my age were total brats. Diana Barry was bearable, but she was still very incompetent. I hoped this girl would be nice, and smart. Maybe we could be friends?

"Oh?" I asked, motioning for her to elaborate.

"She's a bit of an oddball, so maybe you could talk to her, and help her ease into the crowd?" Marilla asked.

"Of course! Would she be able to walk with me to school this morning? I'm leaving soon."

"I'll go get her then!" Marilla smiled as she picked up her coat and walked out.

I grinned at the thought of having a new friend.

I had waited for the girl for twenty minutes, and when I had finally had enough I walked outside to leave. But soon as I stepped out the door I was met with a freckled face.

"Erm, hello?" I said attempting to back up a little.

"Hi! I'm Anne. Marilla and Matthew sent me here."

"Oh! You're there daughter? I've been so excited to meet you!"

"Really? Well, I'm assuming you're pretty disappointed now. I'm not beautiful like you..."

I politely brushed off the compliment and we started walking.

"You know, I've never had a friend before." She said looking off in a daze.

"Well, i was really excited when Marilla asked me to walk with you because I've never had a female friend before."

"Wait. Marilla asked you to talk to me?"

"Um, yes? Didn't you know?"

"So you don't really want to be friends with me." She hung her head low and started running.

"Anne! Wait!" I kicked off my shoes and ran after her.

I finally caught up to her a few feet away from the school, and I grabbed her arm gently. "Anne."
