Glancing at the clock Alex saw that they were going to miss the bus if they did not move the pace.

"Rosie, come on, hurry and finish eating so we won't be late."

Rosie quickly shoveled the rest of her syrup drenched pancakes into her mouth, chugged down a glass of cold milk, grabbed her backpack and started putting on her shoes.

"I'm ready Lexi." Rosie says with a smile on her face.

"Just a moment." says Alex grabbing her bag and coffee mug she slips on her tennis shoes grabs a dark loose hoodie and they both walk out the door.

While walking to the bus stop Alex put on the hoodie, not because it was cold out but because she felt safer that way. She was a Senior this year which means she would be graduating with everyone else, but she still rode the bus with all the younger kids because she could not afford a car. All the money she earned went into paying the bills, buying herself accessories and clothes, and anything else that would help her mom out. She did not mind riding the bus though, that way she could keep an eye on Rosie who absolutely loved riding the bus because there were so many people she could talk to. Slinging the bag back over her shoulder she soon heard the loud engine of the bus somewhere nearby. Looking down the street she saw its yellow orangish color that could not be mistaken for anything else. She waited for it to slow down to a stop then quickly guiding Rosie to the door. Rosie did not need or want her guiding she ran ahead of her sister full of excitement and happiness. Rosie sat in the way front already starting to chit chat with girls her age while Alex went to the way back. Her usual seat at the very back of the bus was free so she slid into it drawing her knees up against the seat in front of her and slightly relaxing.

Only now could she feel the exhaustion creeping up on her, but she still had a long day ahead of her. The little kids got off the bus first, she saw Rosie piling off the bus with all the other kids her age. Looking out the window Alex saw Rosie turn back to her and wave, smiling Alex waved back. And then she was gone, blending in with all the other little girls and boys at her school. She made it seem so easy, if only Alex could be like that. But it was already a quarter way into the year everybody already had their friend groups and people they hung out with. Knowing herself she knew there would be no way she would include herself like Rosie did.

Startling out of her thoughts she got up and walked off the bus, walking into the school she got a little lost. There were so many students everywhere talking, walking, laughing, she just didn't fit in. Sighing she looked around trying to find, "Oop there's one." she said to herself. Walking up to what looked like a teacher, she quietly said,

"Hello, I was wondering if you could show me where the office is?"

"Sure, sweetie, it's just down this hall, the last door on the right. You won't miss it it has giant windows."

Thanking her quickly, Alex walked through the crowds trying to hurry so she would not be late to class on her first day here.
