Winter's POV

My first day at work turned out to be unexpectedly a great one. I absolutely adored the place and the little kids. The class I was assigned to was of 20 kids and all of them were equally cute and adorable. I loved being with them all day and it really uplifted my mood but not to mention it was pretty hectic as well. I was running behind the kids, playing with them, singing with them and even dancing with them. While at a time one of the kids was complaining to be hungry, the other one wanted to poo, while another wanted to go home - honestly speaking it was a lot to handle. But nevertheless I found myself smiling all day long which was something I had almost forgotten to do. Though the pay here was not much but it was certainly the most perfect job I could find for myself.

The school got over at one in the afternoon and I had to stay back for another hour for some official purpose. Almost all the kids had gone home by now and I was on my way to the school office to sign the daily register before leaving when I saw Aiden sitting outside the office on a chair while playing unmindfully with his water bottle. A smile lit up my face immediately at his sight. I went up to him and seeing me approaching a bright grin lightened up his face as well.

"Hi Winter....", Aiden gleefully waved his hand and got off the chair.

I sat down on my knees to match his level and smiled widely, "Heyy baby...Why didn't you go back??"

All of the colour in his face drained at my question and he looked down making a sad pouty face.

"Hey what happened??", I asked him in a concerned tone when suddenly a middle aged lady with dark blonde hair came out from the office room.

"Aiden you have to wait here till your father comes to pick you up. I just called him and he said that it would take some time." The lady spit out the words in a single breath while looking at Aiden until her eyes fell on me kneeling next to him.
"...Oh hiii Ms. Parker. How was your first day?"

I stood up and greeted her, "Hi Mrs Finn. Thankyou for your concern. My first day turned out to be pretty good actually. I really loved the kids."

"Oh I knew you would do great", she smiled widely showing off her crooked teeth.

"Thankyou so much Ma'am", I gave her a smile as well.

She then turned to Aiden and spoke back in a serious tone, "So you wait here till your father comes. Mr. Woods said he 'll be a bit late... so be a good boy and sit here quietly."

Aiden nodded his head sadly and got back to his chair.

Mrs Finn was about to leave before I abruptly stopped her, "E-Excuse me Ma'am... may I know what happened?"

She looked back at me lowering her large specs and then cleared her throat.

May be she is least interested in telling me or am I prying to muchh??

"Actually this kid's father is a doctor. So he goes back to his father's hospital everyday after school gets over and his friend's father drops him there on their way back home. But today his friend didn't come so we had to call his father at the hospital to come and get him. But he is a single dad and he is quite a renowned doctor so he stays busy all the time. Hence he said he will be a bit late to come here because he has some emergency work to do."

I finally decided to speak."Umm a-actually I know him... I live next door to them." The lady seemed quite startled at my sudden confession and formed an O with her mouth.

I continued, "So if you don't mind I can personally speak with Mr. Woods and ask him if I could take Aiden back home."

She was a bit unsure for a moment but quickly regained back her posture.
"Yeahh sure go ahead.."
