"Oh Dawnpaw..." Sagenose sighed as the injured cats crawled into the den. He rushed over to them. Yellowtail set Thistlepaw gently on the ground, keeping his head down. Dawnpaw laid down, and Reedfrost stayed. Yellowtail let out a small sound that sounded like a whimper, then left in a blur.
"What happened this time?" Sagenose asked as he checked Thistlepaw. Thistlepaw cried out as Sagenose touched his side. Reedfrost stepped up.
"Darkfire made Badgerpaw, Thistlepaw, and Dawnpaw fight with claws out. Badgerpaw would have killed Dawnpaw if Yellowtail hadn't stepped in." Reedfrost snarled. The fuzz that had started at the edge of Dawnpaw's vision grew.
"What?" Sagenose jerked up, eyes wide. Reedfrost nodded. "I must tell Mintstar!"
"I'm sure Yellowtail is doing that now." Reedfrost looked down at Dawnpaw. The blood had started to flow faster. Dawnpaw closed her eyes, and set her head on her paws.
"Go, Reedfrost. I can handle it from here. Get Mintstar." Sagenose disappeared into the cave, and returned with herbs in his jaws. Reedfrost left as Sagenose got to work.

~later that day~
Dawnpaw awoke to hear voices quietly talking. Keeping her eyes shut, she listened.
"-cine cat." Dawnpaw recognized Sagenose.
"She comes in almost every day with wounds, and stays here for a day or so, bored. She can't train like the other apprentices, something is holding her back. It's like She's being hurt on purpose. I think it's best if she becomes one, Yes, but it's her choice!" Mintstar's voice rose to a yell. Curiosity filled Dawnpaw as the conversation stopped. Finally, Mintstar continued.
"We will ask her later. This is a big step. She would give up being a warrior, having a mate and kits, and possibly being leader one day." Mintstar cut off, and Sagenose purred.
"Is it maybe you want her to be the next leader? She's only an apprentice, Mintstar, you can't possibly expect her to become a leader soon. No, we will not ask her. She will be embarrassed if we do. It's making fun of her if we ask, it's saying she won't be a good warrior. No asking. She will be my apprentice. It's final." Sagenose whispered. Dawnpaw barely caught his voice.
"Sagenose, no. I will not allow you to choose her path for her. If you even think of forcing her to do anything, you will be in major trouble. Understand?" Mintstar growled. By this time, Dawnpaw had her eyes wide open. Mintstar stormed past, tail lashing. She glanced down and saw Dawnpaw awake. "Oh..."
"Mintstar?" Dawnpaw squeaked. Mintstar flattened her ears. Sagenose appeared behind Mintstar.
"Dawnpaw, we need to talk." Mintstar sighed.
