Dawnpaw slipped into the apprentice den, tiptoeing around the other apprentices. A few snored, Dawnpaw held her breath when they moved or made a noise. Finally, Dawnpaw reached her nest next to Goldenpaw. He rolled over as she curled up.
Dawnpaw squeaked quietly as Goldenpaw rolled into her nest. She pushed on his back, having no success on moving him.
"Goldenpaw!" Dawnpaw hissed. "Move!"
"Goldenpaw!" A loud yowl sounded from the den entrance. Goldenpaw jolted awake, eyes wide, fur spiked. He glanced back,.and jumped up, embarrassed. Casting a sorry look at Dawnpaw, he bounded out of the den. Dawnpaw sighed, the long night had taken a toll on her. She curled back up, and set her tail on her nose. She drifted to sleep quickly.
~a few hours skip~
"Dawnpaw, focus. Okay? Good. Now, when an enemy is running at you, what do you do?" Mintstar repeated. Dawnpaw rolled her eyes and answered.
"Slide under them or go to the side. Don't jump or they can slice your stomach." Dawnpaw recited. Mintstar shook her head in disappointment.
"Wrong. Look around you." Mintstar urged. Dawnpaw glanced around. Trees and bushes everywhere. "Use your surroundings. Watch."
The moment she stopped talking, Mintstar lunged at a tree sideways. She dug her claws in, the pushed off with all her strength. She flew over Dawnpaw, landing next to Dawnpaw and sending a spray of dust over Dawnpaw. Dawnpaw coughed as dust lined her lungs.
"See?" Mintstar purred. Dawnpaw shook the dust from her pelt.
"See? I can't see anything now thanks to that dust bath!" Dawnpaw blinked furiously. Mintstar laughed. Dawnpaw laid down and sneezed.

"Like this?" Dawnpaw sprung forward, knocking Mintstar over. Mintstar pushed up, flipping Dawnpaw onto her back. Dawnpaw shrank down and slithered out from under Mintstar, then barreled Mintstar over again. Dawnpaw pinned Mintstar before she could fight back. Mintstar purred.
"Very good. Very, very good." Mintstar praised. Dawnpaw let Mintstar up, panting.
