Main Event Day
10:10 AM | Hall 101 | Department of Broadcasting
Y/N watched diligently at the back of the hall as Eunbi gave her free workshop to the crowds of aspiring writers, the faculty, the random public, and the club members. On her last word of thank you, synchronized claps echoed throughout the packed room. Eunbi walked down from the stage and ambled her way to Y/N before the older female expressed her gratitude.
"Thank you, Eunbi-ah! That was amazing!"
She smiled embarrassedly, trying to hide the blush on her cheeks. "No, Unnie. I'm glad that I could do my part. You encouraged me a lot. I think you should give a talk too, Unnie."
"No, no, no." She waved her hands in protest. Even hearing the word 'talk' or anything associated with that made her brain system freeze. Imagining herself in front of the packed hall, talking at a mic. That already made her shiver.
"I am not good at this, public speaking... stuff."
"I think Unnie is better at writing more than speaking."
They both chuckled at the bitter truth.
"True. I rather write 10 000 words than speak 10 000 words in front of people... By the way, do you want to get the refreshment at the cafe?" Eunbi accepted her invitation with a nod. On the way to the exit, they bumped into their club advisor.
"Good morning, Professor Kim!" They both greeted him.
Kim SeokJin, a young lecturer who teaches acting in the Film Department. The professor in the brown sweater twirled his fingers and adjusted his glass, eyeing them both interestedly as if they were in huge trouble. After scanning the jam-packed event slowly turned empty, he smiled with a youthful glow.
"Good afternoon ladies." He replied with joy. "Yah~ Did you see the crowd! There are massive!"
"We know, Professor. I just gave a talk in front of them." Eunbi chuckled looking at how amazed he still was.
"I'm expecting a higher admission rate to the club. More people come in. Nerd, crazy people with crazy ideas, creative and imaginative minds... We might need to request a new writer room from the Dean!" He joked, but that was a big compliment to the Writer's Club committee members.
"I don't know how you do it, President Song. I underestimated you. I was impressed with your hard work this time. Soo many clever events offline and online."
Y/N was fidgeting her fingers, trying to get used to the compliments she never asked for but sound muse to her ears.
"Well, Professor, I have a good team." She smiled sheepishly. "Leading can be difficult. It took a lot of courage to do things outside my comfort zone, but someone told me not to be afraid, be brave--"
Professor Seokjin's phone nonstop vibrating with message notifications pinging every second. Annoyed with the interruption, he took out his phone and carefully read the message. The longer he read, the more frown lines added to his forehead.
"These rascals!! How dare they ignore me like this," he spat abruptly. "Is my face looking out of season?" He slowly checked his reflection on the glass frosted door, inspecting for flaws or probably signs of ageing.
"They say I have the perfectly symmetrical face. I have the Golden ratio," he pouted. "Tell me ladies, is my face outdated?"
Eunbi and Y/N stared at each other with a puzzled look, didn't know how to respond to his weird inquiries.
