Roses and Thorns

Okay loves your gonna be mad, this is another short chapter! Mostly because I wanted to single this scene out and I love Cliffies! Don't kill me!!

I sat, perched on the top of the couch, hovering above Rosalie.

She seemed to be taking the pregnancy that same way Bella did. Since blood was flowing through her veins once again the baby had been drinking it, making her fragile and small.

Her cheeks were gaunt, sunken back and her eyes had deep bruises beneath them. Her body was smaller and her bones has begun to show beneath her skin. And of course their was a large bump on her abdomen, the baby.

"Cold." Rose whimpered.

I quickly swept the blanket of the couch and on to her shivering form. "Thanks."

"No problem Rosie." I replied.

Emmett sat on the floor, back to the couch, leaving against her legs. The others were set sporadically around the room, even Angela who was curled up against Felix. She accepted the vampire world easily ever since her grandmother helped her become a full witch.

Ever since that, she had a different air about her, almost relaxed yet powerful, her hair had lengthened and became glossy black, and her eyes a bright purple.

"Jake?" I asked. He groaned and hesitantly walked over, "Yeah?" He asked.

"Rosie needs a portable heater." I smirked.

"No, no way!" He argued.

"Do it for the baby."

"Fine." He groaned.

"No no no no no no!!! The blankets f- ah." She said when Jake leaned against her.

"I really dislike you, but that feels really warm and really nice." She smiled lazily.

"Wow, dislike huh? That's one step below hate." Jake smirked.

"Just be careful of her stomach." Emmett reminded him making Jake snort.

"So Rosie any name ideas?" I asked her.

"Hmmm I've been thinking."

"What?!"

"Well you guys aren't going to like the girls name, it's kind of weird."

"It's okay Rose." Bella whispered.

"Well for a boy I wanted, Henry Emmett Cullen." She said, watching everyone's reaction. All positive.

"And for a girl I wanted, Verabelle Lilly Cullen." A few mumbles went around the room, Roses face becoming worried.

"I love it." Emmett and I said together.

"Jinx."

"Funny."

"Stop!"

"Stop it!" We screamed at each other as our words came out together.

"Alright then, I'm going to get my drink." Rose said awkwardly, Jake moving out of her way.

Serenity and I grabbed Rose's arms and helped her up, "Girls, let me walk, if Bella did it so can I." She said irritated. Ugh, pregnancy hormones.

Rose forced us to let go and began waddling to the kitchen, but stopped.

She froze, her back ram rod straight. A clear liquid fell from her to the carpeted floor. "Oh my god! Your water broke!" Serenity yelled.

Suddenly Rose's back shifted and a loud snap was heard, followed by her sharp screams as she tumbled to the floor.

Edward being the fastest, flitted across the room and caught her.

"The placenta detached! We have to get the baby out now!" Carlisle yelled.

"Serenity, Becky, Edward, Emmett, Bella, and Jacob I need you with me." He ordered and we quickly made our way to Carlisle's office.

Edward placed the writhing Rose on the stretcher and waited for Carlisle's order.

"We need to remove the baby now!" I yelled.

"Can we use morphine?!" Bella asked.

"There's no time my baby's dying!" Rosalie shrieked. "Get her out now!"

Carlisle looked between us all. Jake and Bella pushed her shoulders down, while Emmett and Edward grabbed her arms.

Carlisle grabbed a scalpel and nervously looked at her abdomen. "You know what your doing." Serenity reminded him.

"Rosie, don't look, focus on Emmett keep that baby alive." I ordered, her head turning to Emmett.

Carlisle made a fast cut and Rosalie screamed. "It's no use her skins healing faster then it should."

I took a shaky breath as Rose squirmed on the stretcher in pain.

"There's only one way to do this, tell me where Carlisle." I said.

"Becky, are you sure?" Serenity asked, a worried expression crossing her face.

"Yes, the longer we discuss this the less time we have to get a living baby out! Carlisle where?!" I yelled.

"Here." He said, urgently pointing to the area below the swollen bump.

I took a deep breath and quickly tore my teeth in. Rose screamed and her back arched. I quickly pulled back, "Serenity pin her chest down!" I yelled.

She nodded and pushed Rose back down.

I moved back and tore at the skin again, trying to drown out Roses screams. I flinched as she screamed even louder when I found where the baby was.

I quickly tore in again and broke where the baby was, I quickly pulled the baby out and heard Rose sigh in relief.

Carlisle handed me a blanket and I wiped the blood from the baby, "What is the baby?" Rose panted.

I scanned the baby, the angelic face and-and blood red eyes. Then I smiled when I found what "it" was.

"Say hi to Henry." I whispered and handed Rose her baby.

She smiled down at Henry and cooed, holding him close. "My baby." She whispered. Then something unexpected happened. Rose froze and started to scream again.

My body stiffened, "Emmett take Henry!" I yelled.

I quickly bent down again and searched the area I had bit, my breath catching.

I bit once more, "What are you doing?!" Serenity screamed.

I pushed her back and continued, oh god, it was in their too long.

I made the last cut and Rose's screams halted. I pulled out another bloody baby. Its eyes shut.

"Come on come on baby." I whispered, placing my hand on its little head. Suddenly a soft cry was heard and I looked down to see the babies ruby red eyes open.

"Whew thank god." I whispered.

"It's a girl, say hi to mommy Verabelle." I said and handed the second baby to Rose.

"Twins?" She panted out.

"Yep." I replied, wiping the blood off my face.

"Geese, good job Em." Jake said, panting from the work of pinning Rose.

I pushed my hair from my face and smiled down at Henry and Verabelle.

"Their perfect." I whispered.

"Here." Emmett said, handing me Henry.

I smiled and he giggled back at me.

I didn't even recognize the danger that was soon to come...
