" I'm a reporter, I'm always chasing after good stories. And yours is a fascinating one "
or
In which after leaving Gotham, Cassandra Winter finds herself chasing after another vigilante.
...
"I'm gonna do something that I don't do very often" Cassandra Winter sighed, putting on her serious face as she sat on Laurel Lance's office table "And I'm gonna say please"
"Oh, how cute" the light brunette lawyer falsely answered, tilting her head "But the answer's still no"
"Oh, come on!" the blonde groaned, dramatically getting up from the desk "I need something about Adam Hunt, I can't go back to the office empty-handed, my boss will kill me"
"I can't give you any details about an on going case" the lawyer sighed in annoyance, as the woman hasn't stopped asking her about the same topic "All I can tell you is that -"
"That you're going to give him hell" Winter finished the sentence for her, with a roll of eyes "Yeah, you've repeated that sentence I don't even know how many times, which by the way, isn't as iconic as you think it is"
"Then stop asking me" Laurel replied with a wry smile, getting up from her desk and walking away. Cassie was ready to follow her and keep bothering Laurel until she got something out of her, but the news being shown on TV caught both of their attention.
"The Queen's Gambit was last heard from more than 5 years ago. Mr. Queen has reportedly confirmed he was the only survivor of the accident that took the lives of 7 people" the woman on TV reported, and the blonde woman quickly went to Laurel's side. She never met Oliver Queen, or Sara Lance, but both Tommy Merlyn and Laurel had told her about what happened five years ago "Including local resident Sara Lance. Survived by her sister, Laurel..." seeing Lance's expression, Cassie took the remote control and turned off the news.
"Laurel..." she muttered, facing the mix of sad, anger, and shock expression on Laurel's face. The lawyer just walked away, with everyone looking at her. Cassie figured out that would be best giving her sometime alone, so instead, she took out her phone and dialed her boyfriend's number as she rushed to their house, figuring that he'd have heard the news as well.
________
Cassandra Winter was now standing in front of the Queen Mansion right beside Tommy Merlyn. Although the blonde woman thought it would be better for Tommy to go alone so he could have a proper reunion with his best friend, the Merlyn man had insisted on her to come. Raisa, one of the Queen's employees had opened the door for them and kindly welcomed them in.
A tall, big, blond figure was in the foyer, looking at a picture, with his back to the couple, unaware of the two people that had entered the house. Cassie turned to see Tommy, who was looking forward with bright eyes and a big smile, but still in enough shock to move. He couldn't believe that, five years after being presumed dead, Oliver Queen, his childhood best friend, was standing right in front of him.
