Chapter 6

Duncan sat in his truck thinking about how bad that day went. It was bad enough he had to deal with another shitty year of school, but to have to watch Princess and Trent cuddle it up. He had fucked up with Gwen. Royally. It never meant to happen really.

Flashback- About 1-2 months ago
Gwen had decided to hang out with Duncan since Courtney was working that day. He popped some popcorn and they started to watch the scary movie that was on the TV. That was their thing. Courtney didn't like scary movies and refused to watch them so mostly Gwen and Geoff watched them with him. After the shitty movie stopped playing, they sat laughing about it. "That blood was so fake! It looked like ketchup!" Duncan laughed. "Tell me about it. It was like some rejected Sci-Fi channel movie!" They sat laughing for minutes on end. All of a sudden they just stopped and looked at each other. Gwen just leaned in and kissed him. Duncan was shocked for a moment but soon just kissed back. Who knows how long this went on, until they heard a voice. "Having fun?" A voice called icily from the door. The both broke apart, shocked to see Courtney standing there, eyes blazing with fire and hatred. Gwen got up. "Court-Courtney! This isn't what it looks like." Courtney fumed. "This is exactly what it looks like! You were kissing my man!" She looks like she might punch her in the face but instead just takes the promise ring Duncan had gotten her and throws it at him.
End Flashback
He didn't want to be with Gwen, he thought he did at first but felt himself missing something. She wasn't Courtney. He went to pull out but found himself turning on the radio. A song started to play and he went to turn it off but started listening to the music.

But she made the decision that she wanted to move on

He shut off the radio once the song stopped. How could a song completely sum up his emotions. He was thinking about Courtney daily. And about their relationship. About their future. But he'd be damned if it was gonna be just a dream to him.

Ahh! So Duncan wants Courtney back. I originally wasn't going to do that flashback but it just happened. And I like the song Just A Dream and I feel like it would fit Duncan, after he realizes he doesn't want Gwen but Courtney's moved on. Or has she? 😉
