I appreciate that she's willing to compromise. She can be proud, but she knows when to lower herself and be humble. She apologized for her outburst the other day. She asked to join my house-hunting.
"We haven't really talked about this. I have made assumptions and that's wrong. But you should've told me about this, too. You can't make a decision on your own and tell me to move out of the apartment." She stated after her apology and she got on my car for us to check out two houses. I understand what she meant.
"You coming with me... So, do you want to find a new place?" I asked before driving away.
She shrugged, "I guess. You're right. That unit is tiny."
I nodded, "I see. I would really prefer that we both like the house we'll move into."
I admitted. It will be our home, for one thing. I don't want her wanting to move to another after some time.
"But..." She started and paused. I glanced at her and she's clearly struggling.
"But...?" I prompted.
She sighed before honestly saying, "I'm not like my brothers. When you said you wanted a new house, I resisted because I can't afford it. I don't have enough savings."
We were silent as I absorb that information. So, it's about money.
"I can afford it." I told her. I wouldn't ask her for anything other than what she's willing to give. I didn't establish my company on the side to have nothing in the end. I don't normally associate myself with the company, given my previous situation. Sanders pretty much helped me grow it to what it is today. With those companies and wealthy individuals as our clients, we're set to be a going concern for a long time. As long as we watch quality very seriously.
"You can?" She asked and I can tell what she's thinking.
"I have a company. It's not listed but it's doing well. We're in security. Have you heard about Sanders changing the security company of Taylor Industries? She gave me that contract, on top of personal security for her family and the companies of her brothers."
She was silent after that.
"I see. That's a big contract." She noted.
"It is." I replied and she started laughing.
"I'm sorry. I guess I figured you're all about being an agent without any other interest."
"It's still security. I'm not hands-on with management. I'm not publicly tied to it. The CEO is someone I trust and he's doing well in his job. He deserves all the credit. I only get my profit. A few ideas on the side when he asks for it. We did develop the business model together, though."
"That's great. I guess I still don't know so much about you." She stated and there's a hint of sadness in her tone.
"You can ask me questions." I sighed. We used to talk about things on the surface, nothing too personal. We still tried discussing personal stuff, though, but I guess she hasn't really tried getting too personal.
"This time is different. I can answer you, unless it's classified." I explained.
She laughed again at the mention of classified.
"I see. I'll think of questions, then." She settled. When we get to the first house, the broker met us. We surveyed the place. I want a fence in place. It's a two-story. Bedrooms upstairs. A spare on the first floor. A spacious living room, dining and kitchen. The back is spacious as well. I'm thinking of barbecue. Cara liked it. It's not too big, just enough space. We won't be able to host many guests, though, if her family decides to visit. When I brought it up, she mentioned that Oliver will be building a huge house like the one he has in the city. Guests can stay there.
