~Max~
Will and I got out of Billy's car, wearing full black clothes. We stared up at the lab, both of us nervous for what's to come. "Ready?" I asked, looking over. "Ready." Will says. We walk up to the door as I bent down, starting to lockpick it. It took a bit of effort but I finally managed to unlock it. The door opened slowly. No alarms went off luckily. I stepped inside, taking a look at the dark room. It was just a basic waiting room with a desk and a chair. I went behind the desk, searching around. "What are you doing?" Will asked, whispering. "Looking for a keycard to get through all the doors." When I found none, I looked around for something, anything.
I grabbed a random chair, throwing it at the wall. Will stared at me, visibly confused. I stood beside the main double doors waiting. When nothing happened, I thought my idea had failed until a guard came running through the doors to see what the sound was. He instantly noticed Will, starting to raise his gun. I then jumped onto his back, wrapping my arms around his neck, just to knock him out. He tried to rip my arms away from his neck but I just held on until he got weaker and weaker. I jumped off him in time so I wasn't crushed by him falling to the ground.
"Max, what the hell?" Will asked. I shrugged my shoulders before searching the guard. I grabbed his keycard from his belt and took his gun. Mostly for protection rather than anything else. Will and I now went through the wooden doors the guard had come out of. It led to a hall with another door at the end of it. It was a very short hallway so I didn't bother looking around. Through the second pair of doors, there was a room with two elevators and another hall leading somewhere. Will ignored the room we were in, walking towards the hallway that went to the right. Around the corner was just offices. We continued walking past all the hallways before finding ourselves into another small empty room with doors around it.
One of the doors was open with tape around it, holding the toxic sign. "I'm pretty sure this is it." I told Will, walking through the door. After hearing nothing, I turned to see Will standing there, staring at the symbols. "You coming or not?" I asked. "Are you sure we should do this?" He whisper-shouted. I nodded before continuing to walk. After a few seconds, I could hear Will running after me. The hallway past the toxic door had white walls, white floors, a white ceiling. It looked really plain and boring as I kept walking. There was some doors in the hallway but I decided to ignore them. After walking for a few minutes, we arrived at an elevator.
I stepped in, Will following after and pressed the elevator button. The doors closed and we descended. We just stood there in an awkward silence and in the dark until we arrive and the doors opened. Will let out a sigh of relief. He now lead the way as I looked around for guards. Will was about to turn to the right just before I pulled him back, shoving him against the wall. His eyes widened in surprise. "Max wha-" He started saying before I covered his mouth with my hand. Right after, A security guard's footsteps grew louder. I waited for the guard to turn the corner before kicking him in between the legs. Even if it was a woman it would've hurt so my plan had worked. The guard fell to the ground, groaning. I knelt down, grabbing the guard by the hair and slamming his head into the ground, knocking him out. I didn't want any alarms going off so this was for the best.
I searched through his things, grabbing the guards gun and handing it to Will. "I don't need this." He says, staring at it. "For protection." I said, shoving it into his hands. He grabs it, carefully putting it into his pocket. We finally arrive at a set of two doors. One to my left and one in front of me. I just randomly pick the door in front, stepping into the room. It's a room with glass panels and a doorway. The room is filled with computers of sorts. Will follows me inside the room, looking around. I suddenly hear the sounds of multiple footsteps and a loud alarm goes off. I look through the doorway we had gone through to see agents running towards us. I slam the door as Will grabs a chair and puts it under the handle. The agents start bashing against the door. I see Will staring at something behind me but I don't look myself.
I look around the room, panicking. We need to get out of here. I look for anything to help us before I hear Will shout my name. I turn around to finally see what he was staring at. Outside the glass panels of the room we're in is the gate. It's on the wall with it's black, vine-like things wriggling around on the wall. It's there. The gate is really there. That means I've been infected with whatever is in that gate. "We have to get out, now!" Will shouts at me. I can still hear the agents on the other side of the door only they're not trying to get in. That means that El didn't close the gate. It means my brother died for nothing- My thoughts get cut off by a loud screeching. I look closely at the gate before going pale. I stood there in shock, not sure if what I'm seeing is true..
A pair of human-like hands start clawing their way out of the gate.
