•3rd person's P.O.V•Peter Holland was a smart, fun, and nice kid who never felt like he was missing anything in his life, but one thing. The one thing that someone as young as him shouldn't be feeling.
He felt a little lonely when it came from his fathers side, yet interestingly, also from his mom's part. Everything about their little family was perfect, but having to always go out with one parent made him feel sad.
At daycare, he often hears how his friends are always hanging out with their parents and siblings.
How much fun they have at those adventurous trips they go together. It's always the same thing with their parents are the best.
Peter doesn't believe his parents are bad – actually he wouldn't ever change them. Instead, he would ask for more time together.
The three of them.
Not just Katrina and him, or the very few times it's Tom and him. He wants dad, mom and him out in adventures together.
Katrina always explains to him that because of his dad's job, they can't see him as much for the trips they have during the day. That's what has made a little grudge inside him against his dad's job.
That thing that keeps Tom occupied from being with them. With him.
Could there ever be a time where they can hang out and play all together? Not just inside the house, but outside into the world he wants to explore with both his parents by his side.
He was determined to get that today. Peter Holland wanted to have fun adventures, all of them three outside the house in this day. And he wasn't taking no for an answer.
Tom hugged Katrina from behind on the bed as they spoke about their lives. Their eyes snapped towards the door where their son walked in.
Peter pushed himself up from the bed and came between them now including him in the hug.
Katrina kisses his forehead. "Hey, baby. How are you doing?" she saw his eyes bounce between them.
The father could only share a small gaze with the mother when seeing the faint mischievous sparkle. "Oh you're up to something. What is it?" he grew excited.
"Can we go to the park?" he asked looking into his mothers eyes.
Katrina smiles. "Of courses, sweetie." she felt that going out might help her feel better with the fresh air.
"That could do you some good too, playing with Peter." he knew that he couldn't accompany them, so he only dreamed of being there.
Peter frowns. His tiny eyebrows like his fathers showing the distaste. "You too, papa." the big eyes of his looking directly into his.
Tom let's out a nervous laugh. "I wish, but you know I can't."
That bubbled up a feeling inside Peter he didn't feel often, only when something upsets him so much does anger ever show up.
He was a genuinely happy kid, so this was bizarre.
"No. I want me, momma, and you to go to the park," his little boy voice sounding rather demanding. "All thwee of us." his tongue twisted and mispronounced a word.
Katrina feels a leap of her heart. This reaction and demand only meant Peter was starting to feel the need of having them three all the time.
He was okay with one most of the time and other times the three of them all together in the house, but only in the house and with close family.
Never outside. In the public eye.
Katrina gets up followed by Peter and eventually Tom. She bends down beside in front of him. "I know you want papa to come, but you've got to remember that-"
"I don't care! I want us thwee at the PARK!" he yells the last word on her face.
It felt like being stabbed in the chest. Peter yelled at her and it hurt, deeply.
Tom finds this disliking. "Peter." he calls with an authority voice. "Don't yell at your mom."
"But-"
"But nothing young man. Apologize." Tom points at Katrina who rubs her temple feeling the exhaustion flow over her again.
It was an overwhelming feeling that hits her like waves on a rocky shore.
"I don't wanna! I want the park! With us thwee!"
"Tom-"
The father sees what she's about to say and cuts her off. "Don't defend him, Kat. He's got manners to learn and respect especially towards you, the first person he should respect," Tom bends down beside Peter and makes him look at his matching eyes. "Apologize now, Peter."
Peter's eyes water and his lips begin to pout. Tom's eyes widen a little and feels his chest clench. What other option does he have but scold his son so he doesn't grow and think that this behavior is okay.
Katrina can't anymore and an untamed tear falls down her cheek. "Stop..." she sniffles and let's out a sob.
Both males turn to her and their eyes widen seeing her cry.
"Just stop." she covers her face and stands up again. Runs her hands down her wet cheeks to wipe away the tears.
"Mommy?" Peter wants to give her a hug, he wants to apologize for hurting her or at least that's what he thinks. "I'm sowy."
But he hadn't hurt her, this just came out of nowhere.
Katrina only sob's harder. "It's fine, baby. It's-it's fine..." she feels a small hand on her leg and then the other much bigger on her shoulder. She gently removes them off her.
"Darling..."
"I'm fine," it sounded more like she was trying to convince herself rather than stating it. "I'm fine."
But Katrina Cameron was everything, but fine.
