Shanell
The next day

"Hold up!"

"I know that's not Shanell!" I heard Lima's loud voice as I walked up Ms. Alexander's street which was crowded as hell with Lante and a bunch of Cain's friends standing directly outside of her house.

Standing on the block as usual.

"Hey y'all." I spoke walking in alone, holding Mya's hand in mine as Cain stood outside now with Delante and all of his friends.

We hadn't even been here more than five minutes and he was already outside with them, smoking a blunt.

I stay composed though, trying not to get myself worked up since I already knew what we'd talk about. I simply turned my focus to both Lima and Ms. Alexander while I smiled small at them.

"Hey, how have you been, Shanny?" Ms. Alexander ended up asking with a smile and I shrugged happily.

"Good." Was all I could say as I let go of Mya's hand and she instantly ran over to her.

"Grandma!" She yelled out as Ms. Alexander pulled her in for a tight hug, lifting her off her feet.

As she did, Lima looked at me with narrowed eyes and I couldn't help but to laugh. She obviously saw right through me and my composure.

"Grandma missed her baby, you're getting so big." Ms. Alexander cooed to Mya.

"You and Cain have been keeping her away, huh?" She went on saying to me now and I shook my head surely.

"No, it's not even like that." I defended myself as I sat down on the couch beside them.

I knew it was coming so I came prepared.

"Then what is it like, Shan? Hm?" Lima snaked her neck, making me laugh as she smiled wide.

"No, I'm playing." She assured.

"I missed you though, sis."

"Where the hell have you been?" She went on asking again.

"In the hills with your crazy brother, y'all know." Was all I could say and she nodded, looking down at Mya as she clung to her now.

"Hm."

"Well, I just called Bi and she's on her way down here to curse you out too since you went ghost on us for my brother."

"You just let him snatch you away from everybody after that big ass fight we all got into that night—"

"No." I spoke up, cutting her off as I put my finger up in guilt.

"I'm not even going to lie, it's more me honestly." I admitted, not wanting to make it seem like Cain's fault because that wasn't the case.

He wanted to be down here.
