Shanell
1 month later"Hold it up, BG. Damn." Cain spoke sternly to me as my arms trembled and I stood there nervously with this cold piece of metal in my hands.
I wasn't used to this and I'd never had to do this before so I was scared out of my mind.
"Cain, I-" I started but stopped as he sighed to himself seeing how afraid I was.
"I know, babygirl."
"I know."
"But you gon' have to learn, you can't just be scared forever." He preached again for what felt like the 100th time today and I knew that he was right but guns weren't my thing.
They were his.
It's just after everything had went down, he told me I needed to learn how to use a gun and he was right.
That didn't make them any less scary though.
"Look, BG."
"You just gotta focus."
"Hold it like this." He went on guiding me again as he stood behind me, placing his large hands on top of mine as he pointed it at nothing in particular.
"Just like that."
"You hear me?" He asked me and I nodded slowly as he let me go.
I held it just like he'd told me to as he stepped away and stood in front of me with his bullet proof vest on.
"Aight, ma."
"Aim it right here." He pointed directly at his chest before my arms began trembling again, nervous to pull this trigger.
"Shoot, BG." He demanded and I tucked my lips nervously as I shook my head.
"Shoot, baby." He urged again but still nothing as I stood there scared shitless.
"No, Cain."
"I can't do it." I whined to him, tempted to put the gun down again but I knew he would be mad if I did.
"Yo."
"Stop playin' with me, Shanell."
"Shoot." He spat sternly before I instantly did as told, pulling the trigger but screaming loudly when I did.
When I did, my arm jerked back and so did his body before he smiled widely at me. I slowly did the same, looking at what I'd done.
I'd finally shot the gun and aimed it perfectly where he was telling me.
"Good job, baby." He cheered me on, taking off the vest now before he made his way over to me.
"I'm gon' take you to the range to get you some more practice but you should be good for now."
"Here." He told me, taking the gun and passing it back to me once he'd did something to it. All while I held out my hand now, allowing him to give it me.
"This yours."
"Now I'm gon' teach you safety and where to keep it at all times." He went on telling me and I listened intently to his words.
Taking in all of this information.
Lord knows, I needed it.

Two hours later
"Thank you." I couldn't help but to say to Cain as we laid in our bed together back in the hills.
This felt just like before all of the chaos and everything went down but we both knew that this wasn't the same.
A lot of things were different.
