Cain
1 year later"Man.."
"What the fuck am I supposed to say, cuh?" I couldn't help but to ask Halima as I sat at the table trying to write this letter to go with the red roses that I'd bought.
"Say how you feel and stop acting so hard for once, Cairo."
"Isn't that what she told you?"
"She wants you to be soft. Be soft." She went on saying to me as I smacked my lips, thinking hard about what I wanted to say.
I can't lie, a nigga was nervous and unsure. I wanted to trying a different approach to all of this shit and me and BG were about to go on our first official date.
After strictly co-parenting for a year straight, she'd finally taken me up on my offer to let me take her out on a date.
A real one.
Just so that we could start all over and I didn't want to fuck this up this time.
This was my one and only chance with her so I had to make it right.
It had to be perfect.
"Man, stop being a bitch and write anything." My brother spat as he walked into the kitchen and I smacked my lips.
"Nigga, I know you ain't talkin'." I turned my lip up, looking at this nigga.
"Right. He was just cuffing some girl last night." Lima went on saying and I couldn't help but to laugh seeing the look on this nigga face.
This nigga was blushing.
He'd finally start fucking with some girl that he ended up meeting and she had this nigga smiling.
Hard too.
Which was crazy to me because my brother didn't fold for nobody. He was strict and stern on his words. He was a street nigga and he meant it.
He said what he had to say and stood ten toes on it every time.
He really wasn't a soft ass nigga.
For nobody.
Crazy part is, I always thought I was the same way or maybe I was just following in my older brother's and my pops footsteps but when you find a girl you really love and she give you a little person that you fall in love with even deeper.
It's hard to keep up that facade.
They become soft spots no matter how hard you try to ignore it.
He was gone learn that soon though. Seemed like he'd already began to start because this girl already had him out of the streets. He ain't know I knew that though but the way he was moving I could tell.
He was spending damn near all of his time with her, say shit that happened with me and BG.
You just can't fight it.
"Man.."
"Get the fuck outta here with all that shit, wun' nobody cuffing."
"I was-" He started but stopped, trying to think of a word.
"Cuffin'." Me and Lima said at the same time as that nigga smacked his lips, walking out of the kitchen completely and we laughed at that nigga when he did.
When he walked out though, my mama walked in, seeing the bouquet of roses on her kitchen table. She couldn't help but to smile as she raised her eyebrows, looking at me.
"What's going on in here?" She couldn't help but to ask and I looked up at her before looking down at the letter I was writing.
"I'm tryn' figure out what I want to write to her, mama." I admitted, showing her the letter and she couldn't help but to smile as I did.
