(yes I am aware Barbatos was never a child, but for the sake of the story he once was...)

He was unsure of when such emotions took over him, he had only heard stories of such feelings as a child. A self-made promise to himself at that young age is that he would never allow himself to feel that way. Or feel such a way for another, the feelings that he was sure to drown in. The unknown presence he wished to never be familiar with. He soon grew to have by his side at each waking moment.

"You know feelings never come without consequences... Some are cruel in the end as fate waits to take those unwilling to know it. Into its cold yet familiar arms.." he speaks out before he can fully stop himself. A small smile comes to his lips as he looks over to them with anticipation at their response, only to receive none. He soon allows himself to let out a sigh with annoyance clear in his breath. "If I'd known how cruel fate would be, I may never have looked in its direction," he whispers, his voice slipping into the room. His voice was something he once hated and often kept silent. Only ever allowing himself to speak when it was needed or requested that he did so. He begins to feel their weight shift in the very bed he had been sitting on the edge of, the one that he had kept so to himself. Yet he couldn't help but allow himself to slip from selfish reasons when he had met them.

He soon found that a strong sense of infatuation filled him with each breath he took. Each time his eyes met their figure even if it had been in the distance. Each time he saw the smile paint their face he felt his heart skip a beat.

"If I was to say all that I felt, would you allow me to make such a selfish request? Selfish as one can never hope to be" his hand in the air as he reaches to touch them but stops. His hand soon falls back to his side as he sharply turns his head the other way. "I'm sorry if my words are not of your liking" he spits out as he gets no response, forcefully pushing himself off the bed and away from them. His hands reach to grasp his hair, he struggles to calm his racing heart and the anger that floods his being at this moment.

He was a fool, a fool for ever letting himself be selfish as he knew deep down a person could never hope to receive as much as they wish to request. He was a fool to allow himself to fall for them in such a manner that had little to no reason behind it. When it was clear in his eyes they were all he ever needed. Needed much more than any breath of air he would ever take, they were an addiction and they had not been aware. Aware that they were killing his very being. His soul that he had such a small hope for in the beginning shatters each moment that they are away. His heart that seems to only beat for them stops when he is left alone for too long, without the feeling of them.

"Would you believe me if I said I was a fool? A fool who only cares for himself. Or so I had believed at one point?" he questions the person behind him who continues to ignore him as each word spills from his lips like a broken breath. "Please say something!" he shouts suddenly turning to face them once more. He receives no reaction, as it was always this way. "I could care little even if it was a little gasp that leaves you, as long as you listen!" he says once more, his hands pressed to the sheets that cover them. The darkness of the room is suddenly gone as the moon makes itself known. He sees the covered figure of them as they stay hidden from him. When all he wanted was them to look his very way. Even if it was a second. He was growing more selfish as the seconds went by. "At times I grow envious of you, how freely you are able to feel in such a world that is not yours." he inches closer to them, his fingers grazing the sheets that cover them and they react not a single way. Much to his distaste, he no longer feels their warmth, something he had grown so used to as they were at his side. A feeling he had grown so desperate to feel each passing day. "At times I wonder if you still ever wish you had loved another? Or was it me your heart called to that very day?" he hums out smoothly as he lays next to them. His hand resting on top of the sheet, he knew they were facing him. And with a soft smile on his lips, he pulls the sheet away from them. "I believe it must be fate... that allowed you to fall into my arms." glossed eyes looked in his direction as blood was dry as it once tried to escape from their lips. A soft sigh leaves him as he pulls them closer, their cold skin pressing to his. "It was fate that I was the one to hear your last breath, such a sweet melody your voice was," he says grimly as he vaguely remembers the sound of their voice, the feeling of their warmth plagued his mind. "Fate works mysteriously my dear, I wish you would understand."
