Since your talk with Monty everything seemingly went back to normal, Monty still flirted and teased you through your shift but never made any unwanted advances. Hector took notice of your good relationship with Monty and decided to make you the primary worker for his maintenance. Monty couldn't complain, his favorite worker was exclusively his during maintenance checks and anything else he needed at the Plex. He still didn't understand what these feelings were, all he knew was that he liked you near him, he liked your laugh and the way you blushed when he complimented you.
Sometimes on your night shift you would sneak away to his dressing room and listen to him practice bass or listen to him talk about his day. You thought it was so cute that a guy like Monty would get so hyped up over the kids that entered the Plex. In turn he listened to the stories you told about your day repairing and building for the Plex. The two of you had grown very close in this short time, everything was going so well.
It wasn't until one day when Monty got bored and started looking for you did things go south again. He used the tracking feature installed in his programming to locate you only to find you and the other maintenance worker Alex standing off next to the Parts and Services door near Chica's room. He hid behind a wall as he overheard your conversation.
"Well, um, I know you have been working here for a couple of weeks, and I didn't want to spring it on you early on but..." Alex said, sounding nervous.
"Yes?" You said.
Monty almost let out a laugh, you sounded like you were talking to a child rather than a grown man.
"I was just wondering, If you maybe wanted to go out on a date? With me?" He asked with a blush.
Hearing this, Monty almost let out a growl, but remembering where he was he suppressed the urge. What was wrong with him? You two were just very good friends right? Then why was he getting so worked up? He was so caught up in his own thoughts that he almost didn't catch your reply.
"Alex... I-I don't know" You said.
"PLEASE! Just one date! And if you hate it you never have to go out with me again" Alex pleaded.
Giving a sigh you looked at the poor guy asking you out.
"Alright fine" You said "Just the one"
Monty couldn't stand to listen to the rest of the conversation, his mood was soured and his temper was rising. He could almost feel his anger bubbling under his artificial skin.
He slammed his dressing room door harshly and began breathing heavily as he let his anger set in. Why Alex? What did you see in that scrawny kid? What did you see in him when HE was right in front of you. Picking up the chair that sat in his living room he aggressively threw it at the wall causing the wood to split and crumble to the floor. It had been a while since he trashed his room in anger, he had been keeping it clean because the two of you would hang out together there from time to time. But now you had Alex, who would take all of your attention away from him.
And that is how Monty spent his evening until the final show where he was forced to put on a smile and perform for the parents and children below. He could see you, you were where you always were, on the second floor balcony right next to the DJ booth. But rather than feeling the adrenaline he felt every night he saw you up there he felt numb.
After the show he couldn't get out of final check fast enough, it was torture feeling your hands all over him knowing you chose someone else.
"Monty, are you ok?" You asked sweetly.
There you were, you and that fucking voice of yours.
"m' fine doll, just low battery" he replied.
Why did he lie to you, why did he feel bad about lying to you?
"Ok big guy, get some rest tonight ok?" You said smiling at him.
"Yeah, ok" he said as he walked off to his room.
He flipped the sign on his door to let guests know he would not be taking guests for the remainder of the night. Slinking back into his room he turned and surveyed the mess he left from earlier, it was satisfying but still didn't help the empty feeling he felt. Did he need an upgrade? No, he was just updated last week. Laying down on the now shredded couch he stared at the ceiling and let his numb feelings take over him.
It wasn't until Roxy barged in that he was forced to sit up and pay attention to her.
"What's wrong?" She asked, sitting on his dressing room vanity.
Letting out a sigh he replied,
"Nothing Rox"
"Nothing my a** Monty, you're normally cracking jokes and flirting with (Y/N) while she does your final check. But tonight you just stared at the ground" she said.
Damn Roxy for knowing him so well, then again they were manufactured at the same time.
"I don't know Rox, I'm just going through some things I don't understand. They never programmed us for this apparently." He explained.
"Talk to me Monty, what's going on." She pressed.
Knowing better than to withhold information from her he began explaining everything to her. From the way he enjoyed your little hand out sessions to the way he loved to listen to your laugh. He finally got to the part where Alex had asked you on a date and caused him to tear apart his room.
"Hm, sounds to me you may like her." Roxy said with a smirk.
"Well yeah I like her, shes my friend" He said plainly.
"No Monty you LIKE HER like her" She said wiggling her eyebrows.
"No, no way" Monty said, dismissing the idea.
"Ok, then I guess I won't try and find out when and where their date will be at for you" Roxy said as she stared sauntering out of Montys room.
"Wait! Roxanne wait!" Monty yelled after her.
"Hmmm?" She said with sickly sweet voice.
"Fine, help me find that out." He pleaded.
"Only if you admit you like her" Roxy said as she stood in front of Monty with her arms crossed.
Letting out a low growl Monty barred his teeth at Roxy in an attempt to intimidate her.
Flattening her ears back she let out a growl of her own barring her sharp K9s.
"Try me B****, I can growl too" She said "Now fess up"
"Fine....I like her ok?" Monty said under his breath.
"Sorry I couldn't hear you, what was that?" She said cupping her ear.
"I like her ok!" Monty snapped out.
Patting his head Roxy smirked.
"Good boy"
As Roxy promised she made an effort to find out when and where your date with Alex was.
"Morning (Y/N), Come walk with me." Roxy said as she hooked your arm with her own and started pulling you off away from Parts and Services.
"Roxy, What are you doing?" You questioned as you looked back to the Parts and Service door.
You hadn't even gotten the chance to set your things down, thank goodness you had already punched in for the day.
"I just wanna walk and talk, girls talk. The only other girl I really interact with is Chica and my attendant so I wanted some time with you." She explained. "That and a little birdie told me you had a date with Alex"
Letting out a heavy sigh you gave in to walking with the animatronic woman.
"Yeah, I do," you said unenthusiastically.
"Don't sound too thrilled" She pointed out.
"I don't like him like that, he was practically begging me to go out with him so I felt like I had no choice but to say yes" You explained.
"So where is this date?" She asked.
"I made him have it here, that way I can be in a place I know. Were going on our next day off,
I think hes taking me to Bonnie Bowle '' You said.
"Well just know we got you if anything goes on, wear your FazWatch to contact us. Here I'll program it now" Roxt said.
Slipping the watch off of your wrist you handed it over to Roxy who quickly worked on the small device.
"Thank Roxy, you really are the best" You said when she handed it back.
"I know" She said, flipping her hair "Now get to work!"
Shoving you in the direction of Parts and Services you began your day. Hector realized your capabilities early on which meant he gave you the more intermediate jobs, nothing easy like Alex but nowhere near as technical as Dantes.
Your day continued on as normal, Monty seemed to be in a bit of a better mood but still not acting himself. His responses were short and he always had an excuse as to why he couldn't hang out.
Deciding to not let it get to you, you focused on your work, well that and the impending date you had scheduled on Thursday.
You were dreading it when the time rolled around for your date. You didn't try very hard on your look, seeing as you weren't interested in the guy you were going out with.
Pulling up to the Plex you felt as if you had a rock in your stomach. It sank even deeper when Alex opted to give you a hug when he saw you. He tried to hold your hand as you walked to the entrance of the Plex where he bought your discounted entry tickets. You busied yourself with your phone so that he couldn't take hold of your hand.
That was pretty much how the entire date was playing out, Alex would try and make a move, and you would deflect. This was nothing like how it felt when you played in Monty Golf with Monty, wait why were you thinking about Monty? You realized that the entire date you had been comparing Alex to Monty.
"You ready (Y/N)?" Alex asked, snapping you out of your thoughts.
"Huh?" You asked confused.
"Its your turn" He stated.
"I-um, can we take a break? I need to use the bathroom" You said.
That was a lie, you didn't need the bathroom. You wanted to see the one person that would make you feel, well, good.
Racing out of Bonnie Bowle you made your way to Rockstar Row and sped straight up to Monty's room.
